Two weeks into our waterline project.
It's been a whirlwind 2 weeks of activity. Not only were the plumbers here working steadily to dig runs, lay lines, install hydrants, and clean up internal plumbing, we were busy closing cabins, washing a ton of bedding, getting firewood, and hosting our dear friends , Lisa and Mike, from Iowa.
So what has gone wrong? Nothing, really. I mean there was a propane line that got cut by the ditch witch, but it was taken in stride as just a thing that happens when you're doing something like this.
We were told by the Forest Service to keep an eye out for artifacts and such. The only things the plumbers found were rocks and an old oil drum lid, all of which had been used to protect stuff in the ground. The clatter was astounding.
Now the heavy equipment has been taken home in anticipation of the weather moving through the next few days. These roads can get pretty interesting after a good soaking and/or snow so it just seemed prudent. Once the storm passes, there will be one more week of tackling the remaining internal plumbing and we will write the final check for a job incredibly well done.
All of the pictures below show new work except for the hole in the ground, which used to be what we would uncover each fall and spring to deal with the water. It has been replaced by the shiny copper pipes outside the lodge. Big improvement, huh??!
