Lima Shawnee youth wrestling is asking people if they are able to, to show some support to one of our wrestling family's. Shawnee Youth Wrestling would like to congratulate club alumni Alejandro Reyes on his 100th career win. Alejandro reached this career milestone this morning during the first round of the Lincolnview Invitational meet. Alejandro is a 2 time captain for the Shawnee high school wrestling team, a district placer last season and currently undefeated in this his senior year. Congratulations on your 100th win and continued success the rest of the season Mr. Reyes.

It was good to see everyone who came out for signups. Our 1st practice is scheduled for Monday Nov. 17th in the high school practice room. Enter through door E1. I will be there about 5:15 for everyone still needing to turn in paper work. I will also have our box of donated shoes, for new wrestlers and if any returning wrestlers would like to donate their old shoes, we would graciously accept. Coach Collin and myself have taken the opportunity to coach at the middle school level this year. We will still be helping coach the youth club. I personally don’t think I will be able to give the club and kids the proper attention as director. Most of you already know coach Nate, he has graciously volunteered to take over as the director. We will both ensure there is a smooth transition. Thank you coach Nate for stepping up.

Sign up dates are official. Monday Oct 27th, Tuesday Oct 28th and Thursday Oct 30th we will be holding sign ups at 730pm in the middle school cafeteria. Use the door behind the middle school to enter the cafeteria. Shawnee Youth Wrestling would like to extend condolences to the Elida Community and the Family of Kenny Schultheis, in the wake of his passing. Kenny was a junior at Elida high school and member of the Football Team. Kenny attended Shawnee in 7th grade and played football and wrestled for Coach Kreider.

Shawnee Youth Wrestling would like to congratulate alumni, volunteer and former coach Zach Kreider on making the Ohio National Wrestling team for the 2nd year in a row. Zach qualified for USA Wrestling’s 16u national championship in the 190lb freestyle division. Shawnee Youth wrestling would also like to acknowledge Zach’s dedication to the sport of wrestling. In addition to coaching and volunteering for the youth club, Zach earned his wrestling refereeing certification over the winter. Since the end of the high school season, Zach has competed at the OHWAY state tourney, Spatola Classic, Ohio freestyle state tourney, Central Regionals and state qualifiers held at Dublin Coffman, Perrysburg, Akron and Middletown. He also attended camps at Mount Union, Purdue and the Ohio National Team camp. Team Ohio will be departing Ohio Northern University tonight and heading to Fargo North Dakota. Day one for 16u freestyle is Monday. Congratulations and good luck Zach.

Now that the trophies are in and date has been confirmed. The banquet will be April 14 in the large cafeteria in the middle school. Please park around back and enter the doors directly into the cafeteria. It will be from 5 to 7 please bring your cleaned singlets I will have your deposit. Monday/Wednesday group please bring a side dish Tuesday/Thursday group please bring a dessert. Pizza and water will be provided.
