đ Pride Month is a celebrationâbut it's also a remembrance.
The rights, visibility, and freedoms many LGBTQ+ people experience today were not inevitable. They were built through the courage, sacrifice, and determination of people who chose to speak up, organize, create, advocate, and fight for a world that was more just than the one they inherited.
This post highlights just a few of those individuals: Audre Lorde, Marsha P. Johnson, Harvey Milk, Bayard Rustin, Sylvia Rivera, Edith Windsor, and Jim Obergefell. Their paths were different, but each helped move society toward greater dignity, equality, and belonging for LGBTQ+ people.
Pride is about honoring those who came before us, recognizing the work that remains, and celebrating the diversity, resilience, and strength of our community.
As we celebrate this month, may we remember that Pride began as a movement for visibility, justice, and human rightsâand that its story continues to be written every day.
Happy Pride Month. đ
