Update and encouragement from the Unchubby Hubby. Don’t fall victim to the holiday season! You are worth the sacrifice to make healthy decisions even though our natural tendency is to stop exercising and start overindulging!

Gradual but steady gains (and losses)! I’m down 25+ pounds and I’m gradually picking it up on the trails. Michelle and I enjoyed running in the Garmin KC 10k / 5k today. It was a beautiful morning and a fun atmosphere.

It’s important to track your results…victories and hiccups. Unless you are willing to be honest with yourself (and others), it will be difficult to discover anew each day the motivation to keep working towards your goals.

I’m happy to report that I’m down 17 pounds since I set the goal to become an Unchubby Hubby. In addition, I’ve cut 30 seconds per mile off my pace since the 5k I ran on Labor Day. I’m still nowhere close to where I want to be for either goal, and that causes me to feel some concern regularly. However, I’m facing the right direction and picking up speed. I’m still choosing discipline with my diet and getting out to exercise daily.

How are your efforts going?? If you need somebody to check in on you and encourage you, let me know! Go find your unchubby!

Find an excuse… or Find a way??

Most people find an excuse (most of them very reasonable) to not achieve their goals. However, those who consistently succeed in achieving their goals choose to find a way even when there is a reasonable excuse.

To be perfectly honest, during most phases of my life I’m perfectly content accepting an excuse to skip a day rather than do something hard or inconvenient. But today I found a way. Sure, I’m in a hotel in Wyoming on my way to Idaho. Yes, I had to wake up early in order to get back on the road. Yes, the equipment in the hotel exercise room was less than ideal…. But I got ‘er done.

If you are struggling with the decision between finding an excuse or finding a way, hear me cheering you on from Wyoming today!!
