Last week, our Jays and our rugby brothers at Platte County had the opportunity to watch a practice, meet and play some games with the USA Rugby Women's National Team.

It will be something they will remember for years! Cleats, shirts, scrum caps were autographed and photos taken.

Liberty Men's Rugby took on Nodaway County Rugby Club and came away with a win.

Liberty Men’s Rugby Club First Side took on Platte County Rugby in their district opener at Liberty High School on Saturday, March 14! Liberty secured a 46–9 victory in the first side match and followed it up with a dominant 39–3 win in the second side match. Our Platte County brothers have a young and strong side, and we look forward to their growth in the coming years.

We're currently headed home from NashBash 2025 and the boys played fantastic. There was so much learning going on! We took 33 players with us and in those numbers, we'd had nearly a full side of Freshmen with 11. We only entered one team because we didn't quite have enough to enter a varsity and jv side. But that is our goal for next year.
We came to the tournament for player development opportunities more than wins but we won one, lost a close one and tied one. Some of our boys picked up with the amazing Charlotte Tigers JV on Saturday morning and Sunday morning so we'll count those two wins as well. ;) Their boys were amazing and shared the beauty of this game with our new players and welcomed them into the family. Our boys had an unforgettable time!
Liberty players played with their own team, a team from North Carolina and a team from Wisconsin. In one of the JV games where the teams from North Carolina and Wisconsin played each other, we had Jays on both sides, learning some rugby and meeting new friends.
While there were so many wonderful stories of the weekend, one of best was on Sunday. Our opponent decided early on that they were going to target our smallest player. They announced to their team to run it at him every time. Our boys were upset, our coaches were concerned but our powerhouse of a wing stayed cool and focused. He took them down EVERY SINGLE TIME they tried to run at him. Some of them were 2-3 times his size. They stopped running it at him.
At the end of each day of games as we were leaving the field on the bus, we asked the players to say what their favorite thing of the day was. Do you know what was the most telling part of the team's dedication to each other? Many of the things that were said were complimenting someone else on the team.
These Jays get it and the future looks bright for Jays Rugby!

Congratulations to our Liberty High School Jays Women's Rugby Club for finishing second on the Missouri Girls High School Tournament.
While we faced some challenges, these amazing athletes built a fantastic family. They played hard for each other and were fantastic to watch grow together.
Thank you to our amazing athletes for their dedication. Thank you to their families for joining us and loving this game. Thank you to my coaches who have stood by me through so much crazy and made these athletes better every chance they could.
