Mashlab is proud to announce that Kyle Froemke and Steven Rivas have joined the organization as partners.
Kyle and Steven are fully invested in where Mashlab goes from here. They will lead our baseball development program and help shape both day-to-day operations and the long-term direction of the organization, with one goal: making Mashlab a place where players at every level can get better.
Kyle Froemke, Partner & Co-Director of Player Development
Kyle is a Round Rock native coming back home. As a senior at Round Rock High School he was a Third-Team All-State selection, hitting .378 with 2 home runs and 21 RBI while posting a 0.88 ERA with 34 strikeouts in 32 innings as a pitcher.
He went on to the University of Oregon, appearing in 35 games as a freshman, then transferred to Oregon State, where he lettered in 2021 and hit .310 with two doubles, two home runs and six RBI. He signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers organization as an undrafted free agent and played 34 games across the Arizona League and High-A Rancho Cucamonga in 2022.
Kyle also served as an undergraduate assistant coach at Oregon State, where he learned to turn a Power Five development model into daily instruction. That's what he's building at Mashlab.
Steven Rivas, Partner & Co-Director of Player Development
Steven helped lead Etiwanda High School to a CIF-SS Division 2 Championship as a senior and earned First Team All-CIF honors before the Los Angeles Angels selected him in the 36th round of the 2017 MLB Draft.
He played college ball at Long Beach State, College of Southern Nevada and the University of Houston, then spent three seasons in the Angels' minor league system, reaching High-A with the Tri-City Dust Devils. In 2024 with the Rocky Mountain Vibes he hit .342 with 138 hits, 31 home runs and a league-leading 124 RBI in 93 games. He followed that in 2025 with the Cleburne Railroaders of the American Association, earning Batter of the Week honors and finishing with 11 home runs, 41 RBI and an .871 OPS.
An outfielder by trade, Steven brings a professional standard of defensive play and outfield instruction to our program.
What's Changing
This is a major step in filling the biggest gap at Mashlab: advanced development. Kyle and Steven came in with a plan, and it's already in motion:
Private lessons are open today. Both are available for private instruction right now, including lessons built for higher-level players who need more than the basics. Spots are limited.
Three new defense classes start next week with Coach Kyle. Structured, position-specific defensive work with pro-level standards. Defense becomes a core pillar of our program.
Better coaching at every step. Kyle and Steven are raising the standard of instruction across the entire building, from our youngest players up. They're also helping upgrade our younger player content, so the foundation gets stronger while the ceiling gets higher.
A ton of new advanced content for middle school and high school players. A new higher-level membership tier is coming with more benefits, more access, and a dedicated track of advanced training built for athletes who are ready to push.
A real path for varsity and beyond. Dedicated content for players working to make their varsity team, and for top prep players with their sights on getting recruited. Two coaches who have been through that process will be building it and teaching it.
A new website launches soon. Daily schedule and class content front and center, so you always know what's available and when.
More announcements are coming.
From Founder Tony Wyss
"Bringing Kyle and Steven on as partners is a big step for Mashlab. These are two guys who played at high levels, but what matters more is what they've done since. They've worked with tons of the top prep players in this area and they know how to connect with athletes in a way that creates real results on the field. A lot of great players can't coach. These guys have the track record of helping the best players get better, and they care just as much about a kid picking up a bat for the first time as they do about a high schooler chasing a varsity spot. They're invested in what this place becomes, and they have real say in how we get there. Our members are going to feel the difference right away."
Welcome to Mashlab, Kyle and Steven.
