To say 2020 has been the sh*ts, is saying it lightly. We had a very hard last week at Horizon Hunts. We’ve been prolonging the inevitable of having to put our sweet Duke down. However, a shock came when Sue became suddenly sick Friday night. After an emergency trip to K-State, we found out that cancer had metastasized everywhere. It was a difficult decision; however, we never wanted to torture our babies. We sent them up to heaven to have as many treats, balls to retrieve, and love that they would ever desire.
Duke was our official nanny for the pack. He helped us raise 9 dogs. He taught them patience, how to sound the dinner bell, and to love unconditionally. He was so gentle and sweet. With trips to Canada he lead the pack on instruction of retrieving. Words can not describe how much Duke was loved and how much he meant to us. We know that now he is not in pain, isn’t suffering from the Kansas heat, and is getting to fill the heavens with his notorious perfume of gas!
Our baby girl Sue. We hurt so much and miss you so much. You were taken from us so suddenly. You were the life of the party. Always notifying the pack of when your humans got home, leading the way on your evening runs with your mom, and providing comic relief for when things got tough. Suzie girl, are hearts ache for you and we yearn for just another kiss and snuggle from you and Duke. We know that you both have each other and are comforted by this. Keep the heavens full of laughter until we get to be together again! After one last swim at the lake, a juicy sirloin, and ice cream we laid them to rest together.
We hope everyone can have the privilege of having as good of best friends as these two. Love them like there is no tomorrow; just like they do..
