Warrior Band Parents, this will be a wonderful opportunity for our flute players and percussionists if any are interested and available. Mr. Smiddy is one of the organizers of this event so you can also contact him about it if you have any questions. FEETDIPPS!

Over the past year, there have been numerous requests for some manner of a marching band or patriotic marching unit for the July 4th Independence Day Parade this year since this is the United States' 250th birthday. Recently, several veterans from our Liberal area community asked that we do something for this once in a lifetime opportunity. So, we are forming a Flute & Drum Corps to replicate the sounds of old with our modern instruments.

Please send us a message, or call with any questions. You can sign up right away as well. Rehearsals will begin soon so don't be left out on this once in a lifetime opportunity!

That’s a wrap. I am so very proud of all our Warriors and our Warrior Band students! They have truly outdone themselves once again and should be very proud of all their hard work.

While I track certain metrics each year, this year I’ve shown the changes from the previous data and the only area where we truly decreased was in total practice minutes. The lower percentage on the Oklahoma Panhandle Beginner Band Honor Band is based on just the number of students selected, but when compared to the number of students in the Beginner Band both years, that is a 63% increase. The practice minutes also averages out to an average of 5 minutes less per month per student over the previous year.

Take a relaxing and rewarding summer Warriors because August 12, we are back at it! FEETDIPPS!

Warrior Band will be departing Guymon, OK momentarily. I anticipate a 1pm arrival at Eisenhower. I apologize for our late departure, this was a very large parade.

Rollin’ Rollin’ Rollin’… Shrek, Fiona and the entire Warrior Band program are on the road to Guymon, OK to represent Liberal in the Pioneer Days Parade. The parade tune of the day is the Theme from Rawhide because you can’t go to a rodeo parade and not have some western material. FEETDIPPS!

While we have a parade and a concert coming up, the Beginners are still stretching and learning new skills. Assistant Drum Major Rudy stopped by and helped me capture this recording of the Beginner Percussion class practicing Green Study No.1 that they learned just today on their B-flat and C Major Scales with a little help from Mr. Smiddy. This morning the Warrior Band came out to play Baby Shark at the request of the Student Lighthouse Team in the Leader in Me assembly. During the Culture team’s leadership game, our Warrior Band drum majors were not going to let their leadership skills sit on the bench. So, while all the homerooms played Head, Shoulders, Knees and Whoa with red solo cups, Drum Major Anna and Drum Major Andrea improvised and played it with Fiona while cheered on by the Warrior Band!

The Warriors have been hard at it and worked through two pieces with their new friends. They are all preparing music from sight-reading (first time seeing the music) to concert in one day! This is a short excerpt of one of them after about 1 hour of rehearsal. Some of those new friends are from Seymour Rogers - Apache Bands

Today 26 Warrior Band beginners are at the Panhandle Beginner Band Honor Band learning and honing their musician skills that will help them continue the tradition of success in the Warrior Band for years to come. Concert is at 6pm in the Guymon High School auditorium. FEETDIPPS!
