How about a quick “buying + selling horses on the internet” q+a, based on some of the sh*t I’ve seen on Facebook in the last few days (hence the photos, featuring SSH alumni Wally, who I still miss having in the barn.)

Q: If you are selling a horse, is it ok to re-use the photos in the ad posted by the previous seller?

A: No. Take your own photos. Especially if you don’t have permission from the rider featured in the previous photos.

Q: is it ok to contact a seller who advertised a horse in the comments of another person’s ISO post?

A: IMHO (short for, in my humble opinion, if you don’t have teenagers who keep you hip to the abbreviations), absolutely.

Evidently this is controversial.

Hear me out.

The person posting the ISO post knows it is a public post.

That’s the point.

So for the ISO poster to expect that all comments will be treated as a private conversation is … silly.

Recently someone who had advertised a horse in the comments of an ISO post wrote that she was offended when someone sent her a private message about the horse she had available.

I thought that was super silly.

Because,

a) are you trying to sell the horse or not? if not why are you writing about him on the internet and

b) if you don’t want to respond to their message, then, don’t.

The person who messaged you wasn’t being unethical (as this person indicated), they were just interested in a horse they read about on the ***very public*** internet.

Q: If I try a horse that I found on Facebook and the horse was misrepresented, should I publicly call out/criticize the seller?

A: No. Let it go. If you feel the need or ethical obligation to stay involved, privately tell the seller (or admin of the group where you saw the ad) your concerns.

Or privately message people who comment on that horse’s ad and share your experience.

But public shaming never improves any situation, equestrian or otherwise.

(And it can make you look petty and spiteful.)

And a bonus:

Q: if I am not in the market for a horse, is there any reason for me to comment on a horse’s Facebook ad?

A: No! Never! Do the emotionally mature thing and screenshot the post, then text it to your horsey bestie with all of your snarky comments to get them out of your system.

😈

Let me know if you want more q&a posts! They are fun to research 😜

Shenandoah Sporthorses in Lexington, Virginia, is thrilled to offer a high-quality Warmblood foal at a super price in-utero. . . only 9,5🥕🥕

The foal is by the stunning black stallion Obrecht VD Brouwershoeve, standing at Any Day Now Farm in Lexington, Kentucky. Obrecht has Carthago in his pedigree, and is approved by most major Warmblood registries.

The dam, Gallant Miss, is a registered Canadian Sport Horse with tons of bone and enviable Hanoverian lines in her pedigree. She is an experienced broodmare and has had three correct, sweet foals.

This foal should be a big-boned, fancy-moving, modern-type foal with an incredible jump. He or she is expected in mid-April of 2024.

We also have an Obrecht foal out of a lovely Thoroughbred mare, due around the same time. Please contact for further details!

🎉 Happy New Year from all people + animals at Shenandoah Sporthorses! 🎉⁣

We wish you infinite blessings + happiness in 2023. ⁣

I have heard a few astrologers (yes, I follow several) say that in 2023, we will reap the consequences of our actions last year. ⁣

So, if you feel like 2022 gave you (or your horse!) some tough love, 2023 will reward you for learning your lessons and enduring what was, for many, a long slog of a year. ⁣

So, yay! Bring on the New Year! I’m excited 🥳🥳🥳⁣

Grrrr. ⁣

Anyway, if you are horse shopping and can’t find quality horses to try, use this tip for posting a Facebook ISO ad. ⁣

Many of my clients have better luck posting an ad and “attracting” their dream horse than they do when they slavishly scroll through FB groups and beat the bushes on the internet classified sites. ⁣

Alternatively, if you are stuck in or sick of horse shopping and want some help, message me! I help horse buyers in several different ways. Here’s the rundown:⁣

🦄 Join my private Facebook group and get access to a exceptional horses selected specifically for you, and others that are pre-qualified and available to all group members ⁣

🦄 Schedule a call with me to map out your horse shopping + buying strategy, and get one month of unlimited text/voice memo support from me to help you navigate the process ⁣

🦄 Let me do everything for you! I offer done-for-you consulting packages available for the truly busy (or fed up!) equestrian. ⁣

Don’t miss any more riding time! Send me a DM and let’s find your unicorn 💜💜💜⁣
