The pride I felt watching my team compete for the first time today was indescribable. They left everything on the mat. The heart, grit, determination & skill they demonstrated today was astounding. So many people came up to me to tell me how impressive they were…spectators, coaches and other competitors. We won some and we lost some, but it’s all part of the journey. Thank you for your love, trust and determination. I am proud to be your coach! To those that showed up to support the combat factory team, thank you! It meant a lot! Until next time, we’ll keep training!!!

Last but certainly not least was a young man I met for the first time last week. Jacob Roy of Kentucky is someone you’ll see fighting in the UFC one day. His drive, skill, attitude & athleticism were second to none. Right before one of his matches, he came up to me and asked if I could coach his match. After that, I coached everyone of his matches. It meant so much to me and the icing on the cake was seeing him through to multiple individual World Championship victories. I’m so glad we met and like I told you in Guatemala, I’ll be your coach anytime, anywhere! I love you man!

The third person I wanted to highlight is my ACJ brother and true friend, Kevin Spruill. He was already a World Champion before coming to Guatemala. His experience, skill and personality helped not just me, but the entire team. A true martial artist in every way. We ended up having our own little war on the mats during the tournament and even though we were literally beating each other up, we were smiling and laughing through the entire match! I love you man! PS, I’m sorry I hit you so hard! 🤣🤣🤣

The second highlights were our team captains, Chris (Men’s team) & Cidney (Women’s team). The competition experience they brought to the team and the guidance they provided to the team was greatly appreciated. They were there to support the team and to lead from the frontlines. They were always the first one in the fight. Thank you both!
