Race Recap: at with the BMW
In our pursuit to add as many new tracks to our race resumes, we headed to Mid Ohio with American Endurance Racing. To say this track is a blast to drive is an understatement, the corner speeds the could carry was astonishing! We started out Saturday’s race with a quick charge to third position just to be let down via a failed serpentine belt. After a run to the parts store and a repair we continued our race. We may not have gotten a podium, but we had a blast! We went to bed that evening knowing we were going into a day of figuring out racing in the rain. The first thing we learned is not everyone realizes you can’t win the race on the first lap. By turn five we saw three different incidents and ended up getting hit square in the driver‘s rear wheel and spun off the truck. This started a chain reaction of oil leaks caused by a broken dipstick tube at the oil pan. This turned our day more into an HDPE than a race. The team did great trying to keep the car on track while doing repairs in the pouring rain and puddles of oil. The car needs to head home for some easy repairs and prep for the next race, but this won’t be our last time at Mid Ohio!
