Northern Families,
As we wrap up another season and prepare for Championship Weekend while looking ahead to summer baseball, I’ve spent some time reflecting on my first year as President. Overall, I believe we had a successful season. While not every goal or vision was fully accomplished, progress is a process, and I truly believe we are moving in the right direction.
I have always believed that you should leave things better than you found them. When I stepped into this role, my goal was to build upon the strong foundation that was already in place and continue making Northern a place where kids are excited and proud to play. In my five years at Northern, I can’t remember a season where we had to turn players away because every division was full. That growth speaks volumes about our program and community.
Of course, this is far from a one-person effort. I’m fortunate to have an outstanding board and a dedicated group of volunteers who work tirelessly behind the scenes. From the ladies in the concession stand to Mr. Jim, Chris, Perk, and everyone who puts in countless hours maintaining our fields and facilities, your hard work does not go unnoticed. I appreciate each and every one of you.
I would also like to thank our parents. Your support, commitment, and involvement are what make this organization successful. Whether you have offered compliments, concerns, suggestions, or constructive criticism, your feedback is always welcome and helps us continue to improve.
One disappointment this season was having to cancel our Homecoming Weekend due to the weather. I had many former players and coaches reach out to tell me how excited they were to return, reconnect, and enjoy a day at the ballpark. I was also looking forward to the All-Star Weekend we had planned, including the Home Run Derby and other festivities. While it was unfortunate that those events couldn’t happen this year, we are committed to bringing them back and making them even better next season.
At the end of the day, our goal is bigger than baseball. We want Northern to be a family. No matter which team you cheer for or which side of the field you’re standing on during a game, we are all part of the same community.
We are all Northern.
Thank you for your support and for being part of this incredible organization.
Russell Strong
President
