So many ramifications from this not only for the player involved but for the players on his team as well who have now lost the opportunity to continue their season!

Edinburg High School has been removed from the Texas state playoffs a day after senior defensive lineman Emmanuel Duron charged on to the field and knocked down a referee.

An article in the Boston Globe today discussed the lost recruiting opportunities that high school baseball players are experiencing this spring. Ask yourself a question. When does your season normally take place? Now ask yourself a second question. When does a college season normally take place? - If the answer "the same time as my season!" then ask yourself how coaches attend your high school games at the same time they are coaching their team? In most cases, they don't. If a college coach attends a high school game, it's usually when their season has ended (assuming they don't have playoffs stretching way into May) and/or on a day off to usually see a very specific player they are already recruiting. In reality, most recruiting is done in the summer via camps and summer league events where college coaches can see more players in one place that all have the desire to play in college. So as bad as things are right now, the real goal is to get sports back for the summer.

I read a Yahoo story the other day that said college sports as we know it would end if college football didn't come back this fall. I think the writer should ask the 220+ Division One colleges with no football programs how they survive!

From ESPN:

The NCAA Eligibility Center is waiving the standardized test score requirement for incoming freshman student-athletes in both Division I and Division II for the 2020-21 academic year because of the coronavirus pandemic, the governing body announced Friday.

Students who expect to graduate from high school in time to enroll in a Division I school this coming academic year will be academically eligible by earning a combined 2.3 grade-point average in the 10 NCAA-approved core courses, with a combined seven in English, math and science prior to the start of their senior year. There is a 2.2 GPA requirement in 10 NCAA-approved core courses for Division II schools.

Here is what Bill wrote in 1991 as to what he looks for in a quarterback. There are QB's who throw hard and far, just like baseball pitchers that can throw 98. But there is a lot more to those positions than just being able to throw a ball hard.

#1 is to make good decisions - then arm, size, physically tough, leadership, guys look up to and have confidence in, a real competitor. Accurate rather than guy with a cannon. Emphasis on our game will be on decision, timing, accuracy - guy needs to be confident, intelligence is important but not as much so as field awareness & judgment. Can’t be sloppy fundamentally unsound guy w/ ball handling, tech’s, etc. Footwork, drops, release, etc. - QB has to be able to throw the ball with accuracy.

If your high school season has been disrupted by the Coronavirus, your summer athletic recruiting plan might have just become more important!!!

The summer can be one of the most important times in the athletic recruiting process. It is a time when college coaches are free to recruit and high school athletes are free to visit colleges and play

Don't let student loan debt cripple you financially. Have a serious talk about college finances with your kids...

Most college students face debt when they graduate, which can leave parents wondering how much student loan debt is reasonable and if it's really worth it.
