FISHING REPORT 3/28
STRIPER: reports of Striper from all over the lake from dreher all the way to the dam, good numbers beginning to move into the lower lake and ballentine area. Look for depths of 10-35 feet of water on points and shallow flats. Slow trolling with Live herring on a free line or planer board has been the best producer, but good fish are also being caught casting and trolling bucktails, alabama rigs, swim baits and even seen a few on topwater already. Bottom fishing with Cut bait has also been good in the evenings.
CRAPPIE: crappie are moving into the shallows preparing to spawn, we’ve gotten reports or fish in 12-4 ft of water but will move shallower as the water warms. Fishing with tuffies or mediums shiners has been hot as well as casting or trolling jigs near docks and shallow brush.
WHITE PERCH: using your electronics look for schools in 10-30 ft of water on long tapering points, fish with small or medium minnows, jigging spoons or even a Sabiki rig
LARGEMOUTH BASS: bass are also moving into shallows and getting ready to spawn and can be caught many different ways right now, if you see fish on the bed try a wacky rigged worm, shakes head or Texas rig.
BREAM/ SHELLCRACKER: moving twoard the shallows like other species but will get shallower as it gets warmer, fish nightcrawlers and red worms on rocky or sandy points or shoals for shellcracker and for bream try fishing with small crank baits, rooster tails and beetle spikes around docks and rip rap
