Philly’s Towing and Recovery LLC big time !!

Today we presented Mr. Travis Angel of Philly’s Towing with a Letter of Appreciation for being an incredible example of what it truly means to be a Good Samaritan.

Mr. Angel was called to tow a vehicle that was stopped on the side of the road. When he arrived, he discovered a young man sleeping inside the van. Rather than simply doing his job and towing the vehicle, Mr. Angel took the time to talk with him. He learned that the young man was trying to earn enough money by DoorDashing on foot to purchase a new tire for his van. This young man was doing everything he could to get back on the road and keep moving forward.

Mr. Angel could have simply completed the tow and gone on his way. Instead, he chose compassion. He took the young man to get a new tire and paid for it himself.

That act of kindness may have seemed simple in the moment, but we hope Mr. Angel knows how powerful it was. He didn’t just help someone with a flat tire, he reminded someone that there are still people willing to stop, listen, care, and lend a helping hand when life gets difficult. And perhaps one of the most meaningful parts of this story is that Mr. Angel’s young son was there to witness it. What an incredible lesson for a child to see firsthand: kindness matters. Compassion matters. Helping others matters.

Thank you, Mr. Angel, for choosing compassion and for reminding all of us what being a good neighbor looks like.

🎣 BOAT CAPTAINS NEEDED! 🎣

We have high school students from Scott County and Great Crossing who want to compete in bass fishing tournaments but do not have access to a bass boat or an adult boat captain.

We are asking our community: Would anyone be willing to serve as a boat captain and help give these student-anglers the opportunity to compete?

Serving as a captain is about much more than driving a boat. It is an opportunity to mentor young anglers, teach responsibility and sportsmanship, and help students participate in a sport they love.

If you own a tournament-ready bass boat and would like more information about becoming a boat captain, please contact Coach Coleman via email [email protected] or send our team page a private message.

Even if you cannot volunteer, please share this post. The right person may be somewhere in your circle!

The 2026 Battle of the Birds, brought to you by Centerpoint Health, will take place on Friday, August 28, 2026 at Cardinal Stadium. The Scott County High School Cardinals will host the Great Crossing High School Warhawks. The game starts at 7:30pm with a free community tailgate hosted by Centerpoint Health starting at 5pm.

Please make arrangements to carpool because parking at SCHS will be limited. A site map of the SCHS campus is included below and marks the entry point before the start of the game, drop off locations, and parking. Entrance to the SCHS campus will be from Long Lick Road. To control the flow of traffic and prevent back ups on the bypass, the gate at McClelland Circle will be exit only, except for buses.

Once the SCHS lot is full, guests will be re-routed to park and take the free community shuttle from the Great Crossing High School football stadium. The shuttle from GCHS to SCHS will start at 6:00pm. Catch the shuttle at the GCHS football stadium entrance (Frankfort Road).

Please note, no backpacks and no pets are permitted at Cardinal Stadium. You may purchase tickets with cash at the gate or online for credit card purchases. Advanced ticket purchase is strongly suggested. Purchase tickets in advance here: https://gofan.co/event/6837869?schoolId=KY2825

If you would prefer, watch Battle of the Birds in the comfort of your own home. Visit https://fan.hudl.com/ to purchase per game or use CODE SCS10 for $10 off annual membership.
