We lost an amazing rider, husband, father and friend today. So glad I was able to meet this incredible man. You will forever be missed, my friend. Ride in peace. ๐ข๐๐ป๐๐ป๐๐ป
Today our Lexington BMX family lost one of the very best.
John Fisher, our โRed Beardโ
If you ever came through our gates, you knew John. Because John never met a stranger. From the first handshake to the last gate drop of the night, he was trying to help anyone he could.
His opening line to me was almost always the same:
โWhat can I help with?โ
And he meant it. Every. single. time.
John gave his time, his energy, and his heart to this track without ever asking for anything in return. You would never hear him complain. Not once.
What you would hear him talk about proudly and constantly were his twins, Theo and Ellie. He loved sharing their accomplishments, their progress, their wins, and even the lessons along the way. We know how eager he was to build the twins new bikes, go to a few nationals and take his family to Grands in Tulsa. We will make sure those things happen.
If you were lucky enough to hang around enough, you also knew that man could cook. The smoker going before anyone got to the track in the morning with the days BBQ, he would feed half the track without hesitation. Just another way John showed love. He didnโt just build community hereโฆ he fed it.
The number of lives youโve touched, the countless hours you devoted to Lexington BMX, and the genuine friendship you gave so freely will never be forgotten. You were the kind of man every community hopes to have and we were lucky enough to call you ours.
To Jenn, Theo, Ellie, and the entire Fisher family, please know you are surrounded by love. This community stands firmly behind you. John and your family have given us so much, itโs our turn to give to you the best we can.
John, your contagious happiness, your selflessness, and your servantโs heart will live on through every rider that rolls through these gates.
Every time the gate drops, we will think of you buddy.
