This past weekend (Memorial weekend) I was bitten by a copperhead snake around 2am sunday morning when I put Shadow out to use the bathroom ( visiting my boyfriend ar his place) My boyfriend has been an amazing care taker but Shadow deserves to be in the spotlight as well.
After I was rushed to the ER my boyfriend Johnathan rushed back to make sure she was OK and to bring her to the ER to be with me. All the hospital needed was proof that she was up to date on shots. When i saw her coming toward my room I was baby girl and when shaddy head my voice she was like mommy are you ok, as we rushed out of the house quickly and when Johnathan came back for her, she was looking for me.
While in the ER she laid with Johnathan on the recliner and when the nurses came in she was like are you gonna make mommy better as I was screaming and crying in severe pain. I spent about 14 hours in the ER. So not only was Shadow there for me but she boosted the moral of my nurses who were coming in every 3 hours. The entire staff was happy to have as Shaddy greeted them all when they came in.
Once I was moved to a room for observation Shadmaster joined me up there later as Johnathan took her home to feed her and run some errands and bring dinner back to me. All my nurses and techs just loved her so much and they all loved on her and she was always like what are you doing and my nurses would all tell her they were just checking on her mommy or giving her stuff to make her fell better. They also noted my door that their was a service dog and to just go in and not to knock as Shadow will alert each time.
The entire second floor of the hospital came to see her and when my night shift came in they all came in together to meet her so she would know everyone. When it was time to leave the staff was sad to see her go and came to say good bye.
Shadow was put in a situation shes never dealt with and took it all in stride and was just an amazing girl for being in a hospital with me, being taken back home to be with her dad (Johnathan) while he rested at home or went with him to run errands. She listened to everything he needed from her. She went above and beyond her training and I couldn't have been more proud of my girl. Thank you Highlands ARH Regional Medical Center for taking such great care of us.
