For this holiday weekend, additional game wardens and other marine safety officers will be patrolling for violations to the Texas Water Safety Act. As officers conduct boat inspections, be sure you have: 1.) Certificate of number and proper boat registration 2.) Boater education card if you were born on or after September 1, 1993 3.) Fire extinguisher - fully charged 4.) Properly fitted life jackets for all passengers on board that are readily accessible, with children under 13 years of age wearing a life jacket while underway 5.) Throwable life preserver cushion for boats over 16 feet 6.) Engine cut-off switch 7.) Sound producing device - horn, whistle or bell 8.) Navigation lights during low visibility 9.) An observer when towing (skier, tuber, surfer)
