250 years ago, a bunch of guys (and Betsy Ross) risked everything because they were not VISIBLE to King George as anything but taxpayers. One thing led to another and here we are 250 years later.

Increasing the driving speed is a dream for every bicyclist. So, if you want to pedal fast, follow these tips to speed up your ride.
*Keep practicing - Because there is no shortcut to increase your speed.
*Drop your handlebars and bend over them. Keep your arms closer to your body to avoid wind resistance.
*Practice more on hills to strengthen yourself enough to pull out fast.
*Join a biker’s group. The experienced bikers will guide you, and you will also be motivated to bike faster.
*Wear aerodynamic clothes like Lycra. They are lightweight and resist a little less against the wind.
*If you are riding for some event in a less crowded area like the countryside, you can listen to fast beat music. Fast tempo music increases your speed automatically.
*Check all the parts of the cycle, gears, tires and their pressure. Proper lubrication and air pressure matter a lot in increasing the speed.
*Avoid applying unnecessary brakes. The more you brake, the more you slow your speed.

Your bike might be new and among the most costly ones. You would have taken all care of your bike and installed all fancy accessories. But if your speed and comfort are still lacking, then it might be your tires that need some checking. Perfect tire pressure is the simplest and easiest way to improve your biking performance.

So here are some suggestions to keep your tire pressures up to date.
* Keep your tire pressure according to the manufacturer’s recommended tire pressure.
*If your tires are narrow, they will need less pressure
*Road tires need 80 -130 psi (pounds per square inch); mountain tires, 25 -35 psi; while hybrid tires, 40-70 psi.
*The more you weigh, the higher will be your tire pressure.
*If your bike is in regular use, then you must check it regularly. Tires keep leaking air.
*Tires behave differently on different types of roads. If the road is smooth then higher pressure will give you a comfortable ride, while on a bumpy road, your tires may roll faster with less psi.
*Do not overinflate your tires. That might give you a rough experience.
*If you are using a floor pump to inflate your tires, then be careful about its accuracy.
*The front and rear tires need different pressures. The rear tires need more pressure than the front ones. You need to experiment with both the tire pressures and find a pressure that suits you.
