This summer marks a special milestone: our dojo will celebrate 30 years at its Main St. location in Lewiston, 35 years total including our time at the YMCA. Over these decades, many of us have had lessons and experiences that have shaped us and our community. Just as we adapted after Sensei Pelletier’s passing 13 years ago—a loss felt deeply by all who knew him—we faced new challenges during COVID-19. Through both transitions, we remained committed to carrying forward his teachings and legacy, enriching our school with new programs and fostering growth.
Now, as my husband and I embrace new opportunities together in the Forks, the dojo is entering another chapter. I am downsizing and simplifying operations with the school. We are moving the adult classes to a beautifully remodeled space at the Lewiston Armory where they will begin on June 15th. The last kids class will be held on May 15th.
While I am sad to announce that we will no longer be offering kids classes and I have sold the dojo, I am looking at this new phase with excitement and gratitude for the lessons learned and memories made at our Main St. location. Many of us hold a special place in our hearts for the experiences we've shared. I still remember the sense of accomplishment I felt when I earned my frist degree black belt, I have been lucky enough to be a part of many others joining that special black belt club —Sensei Pelletier has certainly left a legacy!
If anyone would like to come in on Saturday May 16th from 1-3 for a final walk through the dojo, you are more than welcome. I’d love to see some old faces, share fond memories, and honor the journey we’ve shared.
Sensei’s spirit will remain with us for the rest of our lives. We will continue to honor his legacy at our new location and spread the teachings of Okinawa Kenpo Karate and Kobudo, keeping the tradition alive and strong.
With love,
Sensei Sadie
