The City will begin construction of the Lafayette Street Stormwater Project on Monday, July 14 and will take about 4 weeks to complete. During construction hours (6 AM to 4 PM), traffic will not be able to go down Lafayette St. but vehicles will always be able to exit Montwell Commons and drive up Lafayette St.

Since construction will halt around 4 PM each day, there should be little impact on evening events at the Clingman Center, dinner at the Old Red Mill, or late afternoon ice cream and snacks at Amy's Market. Flaggers will be at the Montwell Commons exit during the day so breakfast and lunch guests and people leaving the Clingman Center will be able to safely drive up Lafayette Street.

The spring plant sale at the Demonstration Garden is this Saturday, May 6 - these are the plants that will be available.

The Board of Montwell Commons invites all interested community members to come to the green area behind Amy's Market at Montwell on Thursday, April 20th at 12:30 pm for a community meeting. Board members will share updates on Montwell Commons, located downtown Lewisburg. Members of the board hope to hear feedback from the community and invite the public to join efforts in planning further developments of this large, central meadow.

The informal gathering will take place on the flat near the creek at Montwell Commons (weather permitting). Should the weather not be conducive for an outdoor meeting, the discussion will take place in the Gwen Clingman Center.
