I'm a little late with our Saturday practice pics!! The Sussex Sand Sharks and a few from the new Ursuline Team went up to Crossan Park in PA where our first Delaware Interscholastic Mountain Biking League race will be next weekend! Many of the trails were overgrown with invasive Stilt Grass, so we took some time during our practice to clear some of it out. Now you can see a much wider section of the trail as you are racing through!! After our trail work, we rode the entire race course to get a feel for what we will be racing on Sunday!!

Tuesday's practice looked a little different! Lewes Cycle Sports Service Manager, Ben, gave our team tips to keep our bikes clean and working properly! These kids (and adults) were very engaged!

Some of the Sussex Sand Sharks went up and did the Phoenxville XC TreeTangle mountain bike race. 3 of the 4 athletes and coachs made the podium. As the head coach I love seeing how far the athletes have come in just a few years. I am also so thankful to the amazing supportive families who always show up at events and cheer the Sand Sharks on as well as do a lot of unseen things that help the team run smoothly.

Another great practice! We did a team building game and some stretches, then moved onto skills! Today was Braking and Shifting! Everyone did a great job and we had some extra time so we took a short ride into Cape Henlopen State Park.

The Sussex Sand Sharks had a great day doing trail work at Susquehanna State Park. Thank you Dusty . We were able to do a pretty big section of bench cut and drainage to help protect an existing trail from erosion.
