Great Article from Midland Daily News about Midland Area River Days Festival and the pilots that share their hobby with the city.

“Madden continues ballooning because she likes to share hot air balloons with the general public and talk to people about her hobby.

“I like flying over people’s houses and talking to them when they are on their porches,” she said. “I tried to get a nice couple this morning to throw me up a cup of coffee, but they couldn’t do it.”

Sometimes, balloonists have to land on private property, including in people’s back yards. The ground crew knocks on the homeowner’s door to ask permission first, and most of the time, people are excited to have a hot air balloon land in their yard, Madden said.”
