If you've been wondering what I've been up to the last few weeks on the Sword of the Spirit, it's hand sanding. Lots & Lots of hand sanding, but I finally have the entire blade sanded to 600 grit. Now it's on to the guard, handle & pommel.

So my personal page got banned from Marketplace yesterday for trying to sell a weapon, aka a fillet knife. Facebook, in their infinite wisdom, declares any knife other than a kitchen knife a weapon. Fillet knives are considered kitchen knives & are included in many kitchen knife sets. They say they have this rule as a safety measure to protect the Facebook community. Here's the kicker, guess what type of knife is used most often in stabbing attacks.......

My next project, along side of building another fillet knife, is a commissioned semi-restoration. It's a USN combat knife issued to my client's father when he served. It won't be an historically accurate restoration as my client just wants it made usable. Will take a lot of tlc & hand sanding, but I'll get it done.

The last month or so has been a bit chaotic for me for multiple reasons. Not the least of which is the charity build I mentioned a while back. I probably would have missed the deadline if not for Deb reminding me about it. Time definitely got away from me & I had to drop everything & get busy on it. And this is where I'm leaving off for today. The preform is finished, so next is grinding off the forge scale & finalizing the profile. I took the cross on the blade as a sign to form the tang there. It makes it more of a short sword with a blade length about 21", but should be fine since it's an art piece.

Ok, here's the info on my reel I posted this morning. I've been given the task to symbolically bring scripture to life. Specifically, Ephesians 6:17 & more specifically, the sword of the Spirit, which is God's Word. I am very excited to take on this task & only hope I can do it justice. So far everything is progressing well. If you're waiting on a fillet knife, don't worry I'm still working on them at the same time. God bless everyone!
