The Last Post: The decision to close our doors, while incredibly tough, was not nearly as difficult as constructing this last post. What picture? What lesson? What final statement of appreciation?

Spartan Fitness Telos (Purpose) wasn’t financial wealth or to blend into current standards. At our core, the plan was to promote Eudaimonia (human flourishing) in every possible way. Systems dehumanize the process which made the individual (goals, limitations, weaknesses) our highest priority; a higher quality service commonly overlooked in today’s Fitness Industry. Over 7 1/2 years we challenged beliefs, broadened the definition of “Fitness”, and treaded into new territory by developing the Spartan Badges. We sought rare and hard to find qualities in our members: a courage to have weaknesses exploited, beliefs challenged, and physicality exhausted to test the mind. “Physical Fitness” was just the tip of the iceberg. The intention was to also enrich our minds with philosophy. The Mind Is Primary. The process was never easy, but the rewards were worth it. Capabilities expanded, health improved, and wearing the logo felt earned. Locally people know that if you are a Spartan, you can handle your s**t. Physically and mentally fit, reliable, and versatile; fleeting characteristics today that, atleast to me, are more valuable than gold. Despite being intimidating, many tried, few could last. For those who endured, you have the upmost respect from me and fellow Spartans. You should take pride in having been capable and willing to do what many couldn’t. In spirit, a Spartan doesn’t need 4 walls. They adapt and have proven so. A Spartan appreciates Self-Resect, Autonomy, Authenticity, and Adaptability. Everything that we did in the gym was to be applied in the real world. And this is one of those opportunities. Move forward. Adapt. Thrive. There are many tragedies in this world worthy of sadness. Your gym closing it’s doors isn’t one of them. Nothing is permanent and this has been an incredible journey with some amazingly fit and sturdy people. No words can express my gratitude for all of the ceaseless commitments, friendships, and memories that will last a lifetime.
