Just a heads-up to the parents who signed their KINDERGARTEN children up for baseball. Do to low numbers, we are unable to even field two teams for our t-ball league. So we are gonna combine those kindergarteners with our 1st and 2nd graders in our coach pitch program. I have confidance that this will work out good for all involved, but if you have issues with it feel free to message me and we’ll return your money. Thanks, Rick

Wow!! With registrations pretty much complete, we had 150+ kids sign up for our summer baseball and softball program. Those are really great numbers for us! Glad to see young kids taking an interest in our summer program. However, there are two areas we could use some help:
- First, our Pony League (7-8 grade boys) number is pretty low. Currently only 8 kids on the roster. If you have or know a jr-hi boy, see if they’re interested in playing. If they are in track through the school, that’s not a big deal. Our coaches will work around that schedule while they compete in that. Let’s get a few more!
-Second, Coaches…….. Pretty low number there also😒. Get a hold of me through here to see if your child’s team needs a coach. Greatest need is for the kindergarten, first, second and third grade levels.

🥎3-4 Grade Girls Fastpitch League🥎

For our girls in 3rd and 4th grade, they play in a travel fastpitch league with our home games being at Charlie Bennett Park. The league traditionally involves a couple Miller City and OG teams. It’s a good league for the girls starting out because it has been a combo of kid pitch and coach pitch. The girls start off pitching to each batter but if they run in to trouble the coach takes over. It gives the girls good experience in pitching and hitting while it keeps the games moving along.
Our league provides the team with bats, balls, helmets and catcher’s gear to be used for games and practices. (This age group uses the smaller 11” ball.) We also provide each player with a shirt for games Each girl should have their own glove and softball pants. It would also be a good idea to purchase a protective fastpitch mask for your daughter to prevent any accidents from happening.

⚾️LEIPSIC COACH PITCH LEAGUE⚾️

When our kids are in 1st and 2nd grade, we move them on to our coach pitch league. Coach pitch is very similar to the t-ball league, aside from the fact our coaches pitch to the kids. Boys and girls are divided up into 3 or 4 teams, depending on the numbers. Our teams play against each other 1 or 2 nights a week. Games usually start mid May and run through the end of June. There’s typically some practices starting in April and maybe a few during the season, depends on the coach. Games and practices have typically been held at the Fogle Center diamond or maybe on occasion at City Park.
Equipment: Our program provides each team with bats, balls and batting helmets. Each player is required to bring their own ball glove. Players are welcome to bring their own bat and helmet if they wish. Team shirts and hats are also provided to each player. If your child wants to gear up in cleats and pants, that’s fine. If they want to wear shorts and tennis shoes, that’s fine too. Just remember, as the kids get older they get into it a little more. Pants might be a good idea.
Once again, we want to keep the kids having fun. We also continue to teach them the fundamentals and rules of the game.

*LEIPSIC T-BALL LEAGUE*
Do you have a young child ready to start playing ball? Here is a little info on our league where they get their start.

Our T-ball league is made up of boys and girls of the kindergarten grade and divided up into 2-4 teams, depending on the numbers. Our teams play against each other 1 or 2 nights a week. Games usually start mid May and run through the end of June. There’s typically some practices starting in April and maybe a few during the season, depends on the coach.
Equipment: Our program provides each team with bats, balls and batting helmets. Each player is required to bring their own ball glove. Players are welcome to bring their own bat and helmet if they wish. Team shirts and hats are also provided to each player. If your little slugger wants to gear up in cleats and pants, that’s fine. If they want to wear shorts and tennis shoes, that’s fine too. But please, we ask that you do not send them in crocs or sandals. 😁
Our main goal is to let the kids have some fun. After that we hope we can teach them some proper techniques of throwing and swinging a bat while they also start learning the basic rules of the game.

Reminder, sign-ups start this weekend for our summer baseball and softball programs. You can drop off your forms at the LHS gym lobby on the following dates:
Saturday, Feb 28, 10 am-noon.
Wednesday, March 4, 6 pm-7:30pm.
Saturday, March 7, 10 am-noon.

-We’ll have extra forms there if you do not have one.
-Cost is $40 per athlete. Payable by cash or check.
-Registration is open to kids who are currently in grades K thru 8 in the Leipsic school district.
-‼️Parents, please note the bottom of the sign-up forms where we ask for volunteer coaches. Our program is very dependent on our parents taking the time to help teach our young athletes the game. We are also open to willing and able grandparents or other responsible adults that have a desire to help out.

Hey Parents, be on the look-out. Check your kids bookbags, hopefully they have brought home their sign-up forms for the Leipsic summer baseball and softball program. If they dont have one they can ask for one at their schools office or we’ll have extra’s at the sign-ups.
