Wondering what the rebuilt upper Carpe Diem is like? And the tweaks and reroutes on the lower half? Here's a trip down Carpe Diem top to bottom: natural perspective; a good view of the trail surface; and slow enough to actually see the features. More info on our trail page https://utahmountainbiking.com/trails/carpe-diem/

Mud Springs isn't your typical Moab trail system. Flow trails. Probably not the reason you'd drive all the way to Moab, cuz the Wasatch is full of nice flow trails. But these trails could be very fun for your kids and spouse, and hey, Mud Springs has great flow trails. Here's the info: https://utahmountainbiking.com/trails/mud-springs/

In Moab for Memorial Day weekend?
Catch some culture after your ride!
The Grass Roots Shakespeare Company is doing "Much Ado About Nothing" Saturday 5/23 7 pm in Swanny City Park, then "Anthony and Cleopatra" Sunday 5/24 4 pm at the Moab Arts & Rec Ctr.
FREE admission!
(This post is bike-related because (A) it's Moab, and (B) our aging biking hero Bruce is playing acoustic bass for the warm-up musical act, as an excuse to ride a couple of new trails in Moab. Say hello!)

You'll want to see this. Here's the new Chasing The Sun trail on western Lake Mountain, done as a 7-mile 1200 vert loop using Fistful of Dollars and Deadwood as the lower downhill. Also, your chance to hear Bruce's hostile biking songs "Crash Into You" and "E-Bike Hater."

There's a side of Eagle Mountain you probably didn't know existed. I'll publish a web page after I scout loop routes for the Chasing The Sun trail (probably via Wile E Coyote and 411, clockwise). But meantime, check out the Cliffside Trail!

It's April 15th! And you know what that means! Utah's Wildlife Management Area (WMA) bike trails will now OPEN for riding. The Moab Mud Springs trails, the Timpanogos foothill trails, Quarry Hills by Spring City, etc! Find a full list of WMAs and regulations for access here: https://wildlife.utah.gov/discover/lands/wmas.html
Got my 2026 fishing license on the cell phone with the Utah DWR App, so I'm ready to roll! Not worried about gas prices because for some reason I still have plenty of money and... Oh wait, yeah, April 15th. S**t.

In Eagle Mountain, there's a new quickie loop system just above the Hidden Valley (paved) trailhead. Old Town Road, Stairway to Heaven, The Alchemy, and Rock-a-Billy Access form the main loop, with DH-only trails Rock Notes and Headup running down the middle. Take a lap or two while you're there! Apollo is new trail at the top Lake Mountain, running east of the ridge. You can climb Crop Duster up to La Gringa, link to upper Bugs Bunny, catch the Apollo connector, then romp down Big Thunder for a ride along the eastern ridgeline with views galore. Very different feel from other stuff in Eagle Mountain. Info on the route here: https://utahmountainbiking.com/trails/eagle-mtn-ridge/

This Sunday, March 1st of 2026, *most* of the Moab-area singletrack trails on BLM land will open to Class 1 (unthrottled pedal assist) e-bikes. Exceptions include Eagle Eye (shown in photo), Porcupine Rim and Lower Porcupine Singletrack (LPS), Fisher Mesa and Hidden Valley, which will stay closed to e-bikes. Class 2 and 3 electronic bikes remain restricted to currently-motorized trails such as Slickrock. The BLM will be monitoring the effects of e-bikes on safety, trail degradation, and user experience, and may close some of these newly-opened trails to e-bikes if needed.
