If your stress is high and your body and mind are showing the negative effects: I dare you to try it—intentionally pausing and doing something for YOU. Maybe that’s a walk, maybe it’s sitting in the grass or reading a book, or maybe it’s simply asking your kids to give you a couple minutes alone (breathe, feel into those moments of quiet).

Pause and do something for you a couple times a day, and take ownership of those moments as proof that you are important and a priority to yourself. That energy starts to shift internally and externally. You’ll see it in your physical and mental health. You’ll see opportunities to set boundaries you’ve had a hard time setting, you’ll see your mood lift, you’ll watch the little things create a domino effect in your overall health and happiness.

But it takes COMMITMENT and AWARENESS and INTENTION on the DAILY. So don’t beat yourself up if you struggle to take those moments for you. You’re combating years of putting yourself last, and that takes time and support to change the pattern (we’re talking neuropathways in the brain!).

My brain was spinning, so I thought I’d capture the moment so you can follow along and help your own head, too.

Because, let’s be honest, we have too much information to filter through, and too much to do, and too many worries, and too much heartache, and just TOO DANG MUCH for our poor brains, hearts, and bodies to handle all of the time.

But we also have SO MUCH POWER. With our breath alone we can shift our energy, clear our heads, and optimize our physical body functions (did you know you are doing all that with just your conscious, slow nostril breathing here?!)

So take the moment. Pause and breathe. You’re worth it 🫶🏼

For me, my limiting belief that my worth as a mom and as a human is tied to what I do for others is a root cause of why it’s so hard to pause and prioritize my own self care.

It’s taken me a lot of work and reflection to figure that out. And even more to rewrite that story and let go of that limiting belief. I’m still working on it.

But every time I do something for ME and my wellbeing, I see the positive impact it has. The more capacity I have for all the chaos of motherhood. The boost of energy and the “aha” moments. The peace and enjoyment I feel as I move throughout the day.

Before you think I’m posting for sympathy, or to put myself in a pedestal: I’m not. I’m simply being real. Because we need more real in this world. We need more connection. We need each other to be honest!

So instead of commenting sympathy or “you’re so strong”— comment what is vulnerable and honest for YOU. What are you working through? What’s hard, what’s scary, what is pushing you to grow? I dare you to be honest and open 🫶🏼

Just because there’s “no time for you” because you’re too busy with all the things and people, doesn’t mean you can’t hit PAUSE and take a moment.

Pausing can look like:
—Wash your hands with the intention of washing off other people’s energy
—Plate your food first before the kids!
—Put down the phone and take three slooow exhales
—Turn on a song you love and dance or sing!

There’s science behind this idea—little moments and intentions throughout the day make an impact more than a spa day once in a blue moon!!

As a woman and mom: I know the thought process. Weight loss will give you so much—confidence, energy, motivation, health, to finally feel like yourself again and actually like what you see in the mirror. And science says “eating less and burning more is the key to lose weight.” So we think that a group challenge, a GLP-1, or an extreme diet is the best choice to achieve your goals.

But as an experienced coach and physique competitor who’s helped hundreds of women turn their health around and create real, lasting results FAR beyond the scale weight and length of the weightloss challlenge: the mind and body must feel safe and not so freaking stressed before all the mental and physical processes are working well enough to actually let go of the extra weight and inflammation that’s keeping you from feeling confidently you—happy and healthy for the long term.

Stop the yo-yo of weight loss and gain. STOP the cycle of motivation and overwhelm.

We treat the nervous system first, and the weightloss, health, confidence, and feeling like yourself again happens as a by-product.

How do we treat the nervous system first?
Simple, slow, methodical.

A long list of to-do’s or an extreme change to your routine or diet creates more stress on the nervous system, so we must go for what’s EASY and SIMPLE at first. Otherwise we stay in a state of freeze and self sabotage. That’s why I start most of my clients with breath and gentle movement, two tools that give the most benefit with the least effort.
