If your stress is high and your body and mind are showing the negative effects: I dare you to try it—intentionally pausing and doing something for YOU. Maybe that’s a walk, maybe it’s sitting in the grass or reading a book, or maybe it’s simply asking your kids to give you a couple minutes alone (breathe, feel into those moments of quiet).
Pause and do something for you a couple times a day, and take ownership of those moments as proof that you are important and a priority to yourself. That energy starts to shift internally and externally. You’ll see it in your physical and mental health. You’ll see opportunities to set boundaries you’ve had a hard time setting, you’ll see your mood lift, you’ll watch the little things create a domino effect in your overall health and happiness.
But it takes COMMITMENT and AWARENESS and INTENTION on the DAILY. So don’t beat yourself up if you struggle to take those moments for you. You’re combating years of putting yourself last, and that takes time and support to change the pattern (we’re talking neuropathways in the brain!).
