Shades of 2023 as Kash Wisby's walkoff single sends the Tigers back to the State Championship game!
Pitkin trailed 1-0 heading into the bottom of the 6th inning. Gavin Holt led off with a single, then advanced to second after a wild pitch.
Wisby followed by nearly beating out a sacrifice bunt that advanced Holt to third. Lincon Stephens would then execute a perfect squeeze play to tie the game.
In the bottom of the 7th, Pitkin got a leadoff walk from Wyett Sasser. After a successful sac bunt by Slade Dougherty, Weston intentionally walked Holt, setting the stage for Wisby's heroics...
Facing a 3-1 count, Wisby singled up the middle, driving in Sasser from second base to send the Tigers back to the title game.
Kash is no stranger to walkoff heroics in Sulphur, as he drove in the winning run back in the 2023 semifinal, also against Weston.
Gage James went the distance on the mound for Pitkin, striking out eight, scattering four hits and allowing just the unearned run in the Top of the 1st.
The Tigers are now one win away from a repeat. They will face #2 Glenmora in tomorrow's Class B State Championship at 11:00 AM.
The Wildcats defeated Family Coummunity Christian 3-0 in the other semifinal, reaching the title game for the first time since 2017.
