This course will focus on the basics, but will also include information for those who have prior experience. Intro to the Joy of Fly Fishing Itinerary

Class Schedule:
Week #1
Tuesday - Joy of Fly Fishing An introductory exploration of the world of fly fishing. Thursday - Fly Fishing Equipment Discussion and explanation of rods, reels, wading equipment and watercraft. Week #2
Tuesday - Knots & L

eaders Discussion and teaching of different knots and leaders utilized in fly fishing. Thursday - Casting Practice Outdoor fly rod casting demonstration and practicum. Week #3
Tuesday - Casting Practice Outdoor fly rod casting demonstration and practicum. Thursday - Knots & Leaders (part #2) Discussion and teaching of different knots and leaders utilized in fly fishing. Week #4
Tuesday - Entomology (Insects) Introduction to aquatic insects in rivers and lakes. Discussion of different flies and tactics utilized in fly fishing. Thursday - Casting Practice Outdoor fly-casting demonstration and practicum. Week #5
Tuesday - Fish Species Discussion of the different fish species in Oregon and specialized knowledge (water refraction, stalking fish, sun angle, vibrations)
Thursday - Reading the Water Understanding what is going on under the surface and where fish hold. Discussion of the ideals and importance of conservation. Week #6
Tuesday - Casting Practice Outdoor fly-casting demonstration and practicum. Thursday - Out On The River Fishing on the South Santiam River. Location TBD (Bates Bridge/Foster Dam??)

We are ramping up for the Northwest Fly Tyer & Fly Fishing Expo March 8 & 9, 2024. at the Linn County Expo Center Albany, OR. We have 37 Vendors signed up and 2 booth spots left. Spring Term Class will be starting on May 2nd and will run for 6 weeks. Come learn how to cast and become a skilled fly fisher person. You don't need a fly rod to attend. We will provide for the class if necessary.

This is an excellent opportunity to learn how to Fly Fish. We will give you knowledge and help you learn how to cast a fly rod. The Course is targeting beginners but if you have some experience you will gain in your skillset.
The course is Tuesday and Thursday evenings 6:30-8:00 for 6 weeks starting June 28th at the Lebanon LBCC Center.
