Marion County High School would like to thank Coach Matthew Thomas and his staff for all of their hard work and dedication to the boys basketball program over the past three years. We appreciate the time, effort, and commitment they have invested in our student-athletes and wish them nothing but success in the future. Below is statement from Coach Thomas:
Marion County High School Administration,
I am writing to formally notify you of my resignation from my position as Boys Basketball Coach at Marion County High School, effective immediately.
I want to express my sincere gratitude to the administration for the incredible support and opportunities I have been given during my time here. Your leadership and commitment to our athletic program have made my role as coach both meaningful and rewarding. I am deeply appreciative of the resources, guidance, and encouragement you have provided.
To the families of our players, I cannot thank you enough for trusting me with your sons and for your unwavering support throughout the season. Your encouragement and involvement have been instrumental in creating a positive team environment. It has been an honor to work with your families and to be a part of your lives.
I also want to thank our players and staff. Coaching has been one of the greatest privileges of my career. You have taught me as much as I have taught you, and I am incredibly proud of the character, dedication, and improvement you have all shown. You will always hold a special place in my heart, and I have no doubt that you will achieve great things both on and off the court.
To all the coaches I have worked with: Your wisdom, experience, and expertise prepared me to take on the title as head coach.
Finally, to my family. My kids grew up in the stands. My wife made sure they were at everything we did so that we could be around each other as much as possible. Also to my parents who were always there for anything that was needed.
At this time in my life, I have decided to step back to spend more time with my family. I look forward to watching the continued growth and success of our high school program from the sidelines as a supporter and fan. Thank you again for the wonderful memories and experiences. I wish Marion County High School basketball continued success in all future seasons.
