ποΈββοΈ WHAT IS A HATFIELD SQUAT?! π
Youβve probably seen someone at 949 doing squats while holding onto the rack and wonderedβ¦ what are they doing?!
Thatβs a Hatfield Squat. πͺ
The Hatfield Squat is a squat variation where you use the safety squat bar while holding onto the rack with your hands for extra balance and stability.
π₯ Why do them?
β’ Allows you to handle more weight
β’ Takes some of the balance demands out of the squat
β’ Lets you focus more on your legs and hips
β’ Great for building strength and adding volume
β’ Can be especially useful for lifters working around fatigue or limitations
The goal isn't to make the squat βeasier.β Itβs about using the rack for stability so you can put more focus into producing force with your lower body.
So next time you see someone hanging onto the rack while squattingβ¦ now you know. π
Hatfield Squats = another tool in the toolbox.
