Hey why didn't you say it anything??? It's been TWO weeks since I have featured a JRen Fitness Athlete. I guess that means this one had better be big.
So in order to make a statement this week, everyone meet Brittney Martinez! Brittney came to JRen Fitness early this year with the goals of improving overall at OCR which means, run faster, jump higher, be a bigger badass, you know all that fun stuff. Oh yeah and get on the podium at a Conquer The Gauntlet, because that is a super easy thing to do.... (it's not).
But with all of those goals in mind we set forth on a new program and workouts for Brittney. To make things easier Brittney decided to move across the state to be with her other half Jason, in the process of moving Brittney made sure to get in the majority of her workouts and make them count rather than just going through the motions.
Over the course of the season and training Brittney PR'd her 5k twice, and also improved her mile time. Let's not forget to mention her 12 podium appearances with 4 on the overall podium and 8 being for age group. Most recently Brittney decided to sweep the weekend at Savage Race with back to back gold medals in her age group for the full and blitz events. (geez leave some for the others... actually don't) With the goal of a podium at CTG we worked on grip strength, overall strength, power, speed, everything really. However, CTG can be ruthless at times and unfortunately that is one goal we missed. As her trainer it beats me up just as much, trust me.
But even after frustrating races Brittney would usually find time to go explore the area with Jason and find some cool spots for hiking and other cool pictures. Speaking of pictures she is way better at "the race photo" than you are, she just is don't debate it, I think Jason teaches her.
When she isn't racing or training, you can find Brittney hanging out with her dog Lucy or she will probably be with her race family Ashley and Dustin doing some sort of cool, fun, wacky adventure to give everyone of her social media followers FOMO.
So, what are the take aways from this weeks athlete? She is better than you at race pics, her pup is cuter than yours, she can probably beat you in a race (OCR or otherwise), and she is just a genuinely cool person.
Ladies and Gentlemen, Brittney Martinez.
