WHAT'S IN YOUR BAG?

Golf is in full swing now so I thought that this newsletter we would explore the 10 most important things to have in your golf bag. I love playing a round of golf with my wife. However, loading her bag into the golf cart can make me a candidate for back surgery. It weighs a good 60lbs, give or take a few pounds. Yes, the kitchen sink is in there somewhere!
So, how do you know how much is too much? Let’s look at what I think should be in there.
My Top Ten
1. Golf balls. Yes this is a no brainer here, but the point is you don’t need 50 of them (hopefully). I don't think anyone needs more than ten per round. You may opt for a couple more, just be reasonable and don’t overdo it. Now to start, you have lightened your bag by ten pounds because the sixty balls in your bag are down to ten!

2. Golf Tees. Yes another no brainer, however if you are playing eighteen holes of golf, why would you need three bags of tees? I agree that you need different sizes but add a few to the bag and leave most of them at home or in your car.

3. Golf Towels. Do want to wipe down your clubs during play to keep a clean striking surface. Keep it to about two. Buying quality towels will be attractive and useful during your round of golf. And here is a secret. You don’t have to display your world tour in towels on the side of your bag. There goes another pound. Oh…and don’t forget to wash them on occasion.

4. Yardage tool. Be it a GPS or a laser range finder; find ONE that works for you. I have seen players with up to five in their bag! There, again we can lighten your load a couple of pounds.

5. Cleaning brush. A good tool to have in the bag to help get those chunks of dirt of the club after excavating the fairway. Maybe even have a spare, but remember that you don't need a bunch of them and they don’t need to be dangling off the clip on the side of the bag (they just get in the way)!

6. Divot repair tool. Always want to be courteous and repair your ball marks on the green. Tees can work but the tools are much better. Keep at least one and a spare.

7. Ball Marker. To each their own on this one. A coin, monito, glove button… they all will work. However, you don't need 15 in your bag!

8. Sunscreen and Cooling Towel. Need to protect yourself from the sun and heat. Always need that sunscreen even on the cloudy days to help prevent skin cancer. It is eventually going to be hot, especially in the Midwest where I live. How many tournaments have you seen the raccoon eyes at the tournament awards meal? Protect yourself. A small cooling towel is great to drape over the back of your neck to cool you down. There are several brands out there so just pick one. In the heat of the day, it can bring your body temperature down so you can concentrate on birdies.

9. Hydration products. Not one of the things many folks think about. Some come in powder form and are easy (and light) to keep 3-4 in your golf bag. You can add these to a bottle of water at the course and not have to tote around that extra weight of the liquid. Make sure that the brand you pick says it replaces your electrolytes. Again, the market is full of different brands. I see too many are hauled off due to heat stroke. Heat stroke is no joke.

10. Snacks. You are going to need some renewed energy somewhere on your back nine. Be smart and find something that works for you. Keep in mind the weather when selecting something to bring. Avoid things what will melt on hot days. The old peanut butter sandwich, protein bars, etc. are fairly resilient. Just remember to take them out of the bag if you don’t eat them. Remember beer and hotdogs are not what you need. Alcohol will dehydrate you and will cause you to lose you focus in more ways than one. By the way, that large bag of snack crackers that has been in your bag for three years, let’s throw them away!

See, lost another pound!

There is my Top Ten, but I am sure their other things that a golfer would like to have in their bag.
One more thing, Seek out a golf organizer for your vehicle. It will let you neatly keep a those must haves in your vehicle, so they are available if you need them, and save your back!
ake sure your content is accurate. If you’re discussing a particular topic, don’t be afraid to reference your sources. It builds credibility with your audience. Proofreading everything is also critical. Don’t just check for grammar errors, but review the language you use for consistency of tone and voice.

Step 3: Call-to-Action
Finally, include a call-to-action, either a link to your website or social media page, or some additional reading. You’ve got your customers attention, so take advantage of it.
