The Plain Valley Adventure Women Summer Planning Committee have put together another summer full of fun exploring our local valley, learning new skills and enjoying our fabulous community of women. We are a volunteer led group of women. All our hosts have volunteered their time to share their passions with us.

This year we are offering an April event that is open to anyone who is interested. We will be going to Derby Canyon Natives, a local nursery that grows native plants specific to our area. This event is on April 15th from 11-1pm, followed by lunch in Leavenworth. This is a great opportunity to get acquainted with some of our local women, learn about native plants and buy a few for your garden! It’s also a preview of our summer program!

Trails remain CLOSED for the season...

Apparently winter wasn't ready to fully give up on us and a little over a foot of new snow fell over the last couple of days, leaving us scratching our heads wondering where was this a month ago when we still had a base to work with?

While fresh snow makes everything look like a winter wonderland again, these late season conditions make it difficult to provide quality trails and they would be short-lived as the warm temps return, so because of that, we are not planning to reopen the trails this season.

We're thankful for the season that we had and for all of the skiers who have joined us this winter.

We again want to thank all of our coaches, volunteers, trail ambassadors and especially our extremely generous land owners that make our ski trails possible. We appreciate all of the support and already look forward to welcoming everyone back next winter!

And don't forget to join us at Icicle Brewing on Sunday, March 22 from 5-7pm to celebrate a great season!

From the Grooming Report:

Unfortunately, we've had to make the difficult decision to say that today is going to be the last day of grooming for the trails. It's going to be another sunny day with temperatures reaching 50 degrees and the heat has sped up the melting and there are now numerous trail wide melt outs that are making it very difficult to have a continuous trail to ski. Ginzu's were out on the skate lanes last night with mixed results of smooth and chunky trails and it got down to just below freezing last night, so trails will be firm and icy this morning. The best and most continuous skiing will be the southern trails across the road once you get out of the trees by the Beaver Creek Loop, but it will be a mix of skiing and walking to get there. Thank you for all of your support this season and sticking with us during this challenging winter. We hope this will be a distant memory and next winter brings us the big snow year that we've been hoping for.

OPEN TRAILS: Everything north of the creek crossing at Stonewater Loop, except Grizzly Mtn., but be prepared to walk a few longer bare areas before and after the road crossing.

CAUTION AREAS: There are many thin and exposed areas on the trails including near the trailhead and BCT trails intersect and out towards the northern terminus and areas in the trees are icy. If you are going to go across the road, we recommend walking down Fish Pond Lane and hop back on the trail at the 2nd driveway crossing as we are losing coverage in between. Swamp Creek Loop, Beaver Creek Loop and the BCT down to the bridge are all getting thinner and showing more bare spots. Grizzly Mtn. has trail wide melt outs.

PARKING LOTS: The OSPREY LODGE TRAILHEAD at the main entrance of Thousand Trails is our last remaining open parking lot for the trails.

TRAIL DAY PASSES ARE DISCOUNTED TO $15 and can be purchased here: https://plainvalleyskitrails.ticketspice.com/spring-conditions-day-pass-sale
