Last week was the annual Icicle River cleanup on the Icicle and we had twelve people participate, including members of the Department of Fish and Wildlife, Chelan County, and the Wenatchee River Institute, as well as our own employees.

We found over FOUR trash cans full of historical trash, such as old tires, decking, fishing lures, and car parts!

The snowpack is gone a little earlier than usual this season.

Icicle Creek is too low to float!

River recreation season is in full swing, but Icicle Creek’s flow is already too low for safe and responsible floating. Instead, head to the Wenatchee River!

Why Wenatchee, not Icicle?

➡️Steelhead fry are emerging from the riverbed—dragging tubes and feet can disturb their delicate gravel habitat

➡️Low water means less floating and more walking over slippery rocks (not as fun, trust us!)

The Icicle is getting too low to float.

🌊⚠️ Attention River Floaters! Know the flow, before you go. ⚠️🌊

We're advising against floating Icicle Creek when the flow is below 300 cubic feet per second (cfs). At these levels, the water can be very low and floating may take significantly longer than usual, which could pose challenges for safety and enjoyment.

When Icicle Creek is low, you can still cool off with a float on the Wenatchee River! You can put in at the of Leavenworth, WA launch near the Icicle Road Bridge. Always prioritize safety and make the most of your outdoor adventures! 🛶💧
