HCCA’s triumph in NYCT, 2023 @ Houston,TX from 23-26th November.

HCCA competed in U14 division for this year’s NYCT.
HCCA Starz were finally placed 4th in the overall standings by winning 3 out of 4 games.

Sujith, the skipper of U14 team batted brilliantly throughout the tournament and was placed 7th in overall batting.

Match1 :
HCCA Starz won the toss and elected to bat. The playing conditions were very cold and rainy. Team risked batting first but they did set a very good target of 199. Rohan, Sujith started steady with Vrishan hitting a fine knock of 69.
ASG commanders, opposition team were bundled out for 157. Saif got his fifer as well and bundled the tail pretty quickly. Vrishan was MoM.

Match2 :
HCCA Starz won the toss for the 2nd time and elected to bat.
Our top order fired and everybody contributed very well. Sujith and Laksh started the innings with skipper hitting 65. Then the middle order was well supported by Rohan, Vishan and Aneesh. Target was set to 189.
Criclanes Supergiants team were done and dusted for 136. Sahil as enforcer and Anay opened the bowling attack.
Anay took 4 wickets with Sri chipping in as well. Sujith was delclared as MoM.

Match3 :
HCCA starz won the toss for 3rd time in row and elected to bat. The template to set a high score batting first is what team wanted to follow. But this was a low scoring yet rivetting game. We scored 124 runs and target was set to 125 in 30 overs which seemed pretty small. Saif played the innings of the tournament for us hitting a match winning knock of 30 runs. Sri supported Saif as well and final wicket partnership scored 50 odd runs. All the spinners took 2-3 wickets each with Sujith getting 3 wickets. He was adjudged as MoM. But skipper handed over his MoM trophy to Saif - for his stellar innings at the end of the game. HCCA won the match by 11 runs restricting opposition team.
Truly this was incredible display of never say die attitude from the blokes.

Match4 :
With first 3 wins, HCCA Starz were placed for 3rd/4th position game and faced NACA Hawks.
Again winning the toss, we chose to bat first. Barring Sujith and Keerthan our batting was exposed. Also the playing conditions were extremely cold and windy which was challenging. NACA Hawks won the match with almost 6 overs to spare. We did have plenty of chances to capitalize on, but unfortunately things did not go our way.

Big thank you to all the moms, dads, siblings and our cricket families that helped us on these 4 days.
This is the third year in succession that HCCA is participating in the NYCT tournaments.
The special awards that were given out on Saturday were truly special this time. Mridul facilitated the award ceremony and all the moms were our chief guests of the event.

Thank you to coach Mahender, Abhi and Mridul who did a very fine job of managing the team.

We thank our hosts from NYCT who were exceptional this year. They included the lunch for players as well as parents during all the games. Truly we are thankful for their hospitality and organizing skills to pull off such a big tournament with multiple venues and teams.

Last but not the least, we thank our mothership/club - HCCA and BoD/office bearers who continue support the youth cricket.

HCCA Youth U13 team starts their TCCL Fall 2023 edition with 2 easy wins.

HCCA U13 batted first with Aneesh, Arjun opening the innings. Aneesh scored solid knock of 43, with good support from Arjun ( 24) and Rohan (29). NCJ Kings were set a target of 163 runs but were bundled out for 147. Vrishan had his four-fer and was declared MoM.

HCCA U13 fielded first and had a very disciplined bowling. Our bowlers controlled the flow of runs throughout and HCCA was set a target of 125 runs in 25 overs. Showmik opened the innings and was in exquisite form from get go. He hit 11 boundaries and chased the target in 18.4 overs. Showmik hit 72 off 63 balls and was declared MoM.

HCCA Youth U13 team has been practicing weekly and the results are obviously showing. We continue to play hard, play fair and strive to make our club a force to reckon with in the regional tournaments like TCCL being held in Houston.

HCCA U13 - Austin Youth Premier Cricket CLeague (AYPCL) success story.

HCCA Youth embarked on U13 AYPCL league for Fall 2023 in our very own HCCA Wilco and Hutto grounds and we have had 3 closely fought games so far. HCCA is pleased to annouce that the league has been very successful so far.

Various players from multiple clubs from Austin are participating in this competitive U13 tournament. The players are split in 2 teams of RED and BLUE. Based on the skills of the players, the main goal is to provide a platform for LOCAL Austin competitive games for U13 youth. These games are organized and sponsored by HCCA club

Blue team won the game by chasing and Sri hitting his first 50 in limited overs cricket match. Aptly Sri was declared MoM.

Red team won the game by chasing. This was very tight game with good contributions from Aneesh, but Showmik got the RED team to get to the win and was declared MoM.

Red team was put to bat first and Vrishan scored a very fine knock of 61 runs to set a competitive target. But Rutvik along with Aneesh made sure that Blue team chased it effortlessly with Rutvik hitting 67 runs. He was declared MoM.

HCCA U13 Invincibles team raises the bar with 3/4 wins and one no result in DYCL 2023 Summer tournament and are ranked 2nd by points/RR.

The team was asked to bowl first and kids bowled pretty good but with few extras. Aneesh, Sidhya , Nithya and Arjun were fantastic. DYCL Cheetahs were restricted to 155. Our boys chased it very easily in 23.4 overs with Vrishan hitting 70. Rutvik played a crucial role to support opening partnership followed by Rohan. Vrishan was declared MoM.

HCCA U13 were put to bowl/field again and they restricted the MCA conquerers to 83. Arjun, Sri and Samhit bowled beautifully to restrict the opposition team. Batting second, Vrishan scored beautifully again scoring 39 in just 29 balls and was declared MoM second time!.

We were put to bowl again and this match was under the lights in fantastic Frisco ground. Both U13 and U15 matches were in the same field, next to each other. So HCCA group was having a gala time cheering the teams. SanDiego Bolts scored 125 batting first. The whole bowling unit was spot on with Sri being the standout supported by excellent glovework from Rohan. With the short innings break because of the looming thunderstorms, HCCA U13 started very positively Jayanth and Aneesh off the rails quickly. HCCA were 73/1 at 10 overs when the rains interrupted the match and declared as NO result. We were short of 2 overs to get a WIN by Duckworth-Lewis. Though the game was no result, the team showed exceptional performance in this game. HCCA would have played either 1st or 3rd spot, had we won this game.

During the rain break, before teams parted to their respective hotels, Mr Nandu Jalamuri activated his DJ skills and it was ecstatic to watch parents, kids dancing away to the tunes for almost 1.5 hrs with an anticipation that match would restart. Unfortunately it was no result and HCCA U13 was slated to play for 5th spot.

For the 5th spot, we played with DYCL Cheetahs again and for the first time we were put to bat first. Aneesh and Jay started very well with Jay scoring his first 50. Few quick wickets fell but later consolidated again with Jay and Rohan's partnership of almost 100 runs. HCCA set target of 177. DYCL were bundled very quickly for paltry 67 runs in just 16.5 overs. Aneesh had his first fifer and was aptly declared MoM. Our bowling was on the spot and contained the scoring very well in searing heat of 105F.

We thank the tournament organizers, Coach Sherwin, Coach Tejo and all the enthusiastic parents who made this trip memorable. The moms, the dads and kids had several bonding times with pool parties, luncheons and more. We as HCCA youth teams have come a very long way now after close to 3 years of practice, several practice games, coaching sessions specially for youth. Their consistent victories and remarkable performances have solidified HCCA's reputation as one of the most accomplished and dominant cricket teams in Austin,TX area.

HCCA U15 - NYCT Youth Tournament in Dallas (2023 Memorial day weekend).

HCCA U15 played 4 matches, won 2 and lost 2 and stood 4th overall in the tournament.

HCCA batted first and set the target of 173 runs to score. Sujith and Dhruv hit half centuries and batted beautifully. All bowlers bowled pretty good with standout performances from Anay and Arjun I. HCCA won by 6 runs and Sujith was adjudged MoM for his excellent 69 at the top order.

HCCA batted first again and made 209. Sujith(81), Aneesh played excellent knocks in the middle order. Dhruv and Arjun Iyer played sensibly to steady the innings and set a formidable target. DYCL Jaguars were chasing the target very well until the Arjun, Aneesh and Sri came to the party late and put the brakes on scoring. The match ended in tie and resulted in super over.

HCCA won the super over with Aneesh hitting the last ball boundary. Sujith was declared MoM for his superlative batting performance and 2nd successive half century.

HCCA batted first again and set target of 140. The batting innings was again lead by Sujith with his 3rd successive 50, accompanied by Aneesh in the lower order. HCCA bowling unit was excellent with 10 players bowling in tandem and almost had the match in their kitty. Few fielding mistakes cost us and the game was won by HYCC Houston.

Because HCCA U15 had won 2/3 games, we faced NTCA titans for 3rd position.

HCCA batted first again and saw a different level of cricket in their final game. HCCA were bundled out for 40. The players saw some searing pace by the opposition team but few handled well, specially Arush taking extraordinary 72 balls with his rock solid defense. NTCA titans comfortably chased and won the game.

Overall it was wonderful outing for the HCCA U15 team in Dallas. We thank tournament organizers. We also thank all the parents, coaches, managers and most importantly the players who played their heart out. HCCA youth continues to fly high playing competitive cricket. Our motto to continue to learn, practice, play hard and fair is evident in these tournaments. The icing on the cake of this journey was Sujith being adjudged Best Batter of the tournament with 3 half centuries.

HCCA U13 wins against IPI-Thunders team in an exciting match.

U13 team had a fantastic start of the USAC Austin Hub games. 2nd game was played in Hutto ground and HCCA U13 elected to bat. After steady start with Vrishan and Arjun, we lost 2 quick wickets around 9th over. Rohan joined Vrishan in the middle and both played unbeaten partnership of 152 runs with Vrishan scoring his maiden century!.

IPI Thunders team chased the score pretty well with numerous catching, run out chances going for them. But death overs by Aneesh, Vrishan and fantastic final over by Arjun sealed the game for us.

Vrishan for his maiden 100 was declared MoM.

HCCA U15 teams, Supernova and Starz played their 2nd U15 USAC Austin Hub series games @ HCCA ground.

Supernova elected to bat and faced some chin music bowling by Sahil and Anay. Sahil took 3 top order wickets. Sujith again stabilized the batting by top scoring 45 with support from Aneesh as well. This time Starz easily chased the target down with Rishi P and Dhruv scoring 36 and 31 respectively. Rishi and Sahil were declared Players of match for their excellent batting and bowling contributions that made Starz win.

HCCA U15 teams, Supernova and Starz kickstarted the U15 USAC Austin Hub series games @ Hutto ground.

Supernova elected to bat and Sujith stole the show with stellar century and Dev giving a great company in the middle during the first innings batting. Starz gave a fantastic fight with lot of our boys pitching in with batting. Vrishan, Dhruv and Arjun had very good partnerships and Sahil in the end almost pulled off a heist but fell short by 6 runs. Supernovas won the first game with Sujith being MoM.
