Press Release Immediate: Junior Golf of Northwest Iowa Inc was awarded $5,000 from Le Mars Hotel/Motel Sales Tax receipts on July 14, 2025.
Funds have been used for promoting the city of Le Mars IA as The Ice Cream Capital of the World. “Our group is excited and thankful to receive these special tax grant funds again this year,” said Daniel Gray. “We used these funds 100% for our national college golf event bringing more people to Le Mars to increase tourism. The grant funds were used to purchase items that are provided to our 148 college coaches and players from 19 countries around the world and 21 US states, where the college team's players and coaches reside in the US and around the world! All items include Le Mars IA and/or The Ice Cream Capital of the World logos! Well over 300 folks came to Le Mars for the four-day weekend this year.”
The mission of the CVB Tourism Committee is to attempt to fund as many qualifying projects as possible with enough money to be useful toward completion of the project goal. Qualifying projects meet state code regarding the allocation of revenues generated by the hotel/motel sales tax. Priority is given to projects that encourage growth of tourism to the City of Le Mars.
The 7th Annual NWIA NIT is the NAIA’s premier fall college golf event featuring 22 teams from across the USA each fall. This year’s Men's Team Champions were from Indianapolis IN, Marian University, in their first appearance at the NWIA NIT. The Texas Wesleyan Women’s Golf Team, from Fort Worth TX, successfully defended their 2024 title and are now 4X Champions! Our individual Champions were Hannah Ulibarri, The Masters University, Santa Clarita CA, 3X All American and NAIA National Individual Champion in 2023. Kolbe Fielder, a Texas Wesleyan sophomore, a Fort Worth native, claimed the men’s individual title as the team’s #5 player and it was his first varsity event. He shot a -7, 64 in the final round!
The 8th Annual NWIA NIT is scheduled for September 19-22, 2026 at Le Mars’ Willow Creek Golf Club! We anticipate 24 teams, 12 men’s and women’s teams from around the country! Teams from Los Angeles CA, Indianapolis IN, Prescott and Phoenix Metro AZ, Ft Lauderdale FL, Lewiston ID, Wichita KS, Oklahoma City OK, Hobbs NM, Fort Worth TX, and NW Iowa have accepted invitations for the 2026 event!
