A varied bag today provided a feast of protein. We had woodcock ala Scott Rea including the brain. Apps were some of the "holy trinity" heart, liver, and gizzard from todays pheasant thanks to some inspiration from Steven Rinella Always up for trying new ways to use all of the animals I harvest.

First NJ woodcock of the season. With all the stuff I've read about protecting your favorite spots I should name this cover the windy ridgeline or something like that. But then again it would be an injustice to call it anything but its earned name, The Fire Swamp.

Took the LC for a walk on the prairie for her 100th birthday. 100 years is far too short a time to spend in the uplands, in the company of fine dogs, fine friends, gentelman birds, and good whiskey.

This was the first sun we had since leaving for Montana a week ago. Snow, sleet, rain, fog, tired dogs, sore feet, and a muddy expedition vehicle tell the tale. That and a solid after hunt beer to wash it all down.

Parking lot cooking at its best! Seared Sharptail in lemon pepper sauce. Seconds and thirds were manditory, fourths optional.
