Consistency beats intensity every time. That doesn't mean you should ignore intensity, but if you are cutting calories to fast, or exercising to hard it can lead to mental exhaustion and you can fall off the cliff before you get the sustainable change you want.

Remember - we don't care about what your body composition is in a month as much as we care what it is in a year.

The scale... where do I begin. It's an inexpensive tool, but you get what you pay for.
The size of your body isn't nearly as important as what your body is made of.

Don't focus on eating and exercising to reduce the number on the scale, instead focus on eating to give your body what it needs to function well.
Don't focus on exercising just to burn off calories. Exercise to feel good, to be strong and capable.

Having data to measure your health and progress is super beneficial, but measure what matters - Fat mass, muscle mass, visceral fat and bone density.

Don't just focus on the number on the scale! Let's talk about visceral fat.

Visceral fat is a type of body fat stored deep within your abdomen, wrapping around your vital organs. Unlike the fat you can pinch (subcutaneous fat), visceral fat is metabolically active and can be seriously dangerous. ⚠️

Why is it so bad? It's linked to an increased risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, stroke, and certain cancers.

So, how do you get rid of it?
1️⃣ Balanced Diet: Focus on whole foods, lean protein, and fiber. Reduce your intake of sugary drinks, processed foods, and trans fats.
2️⃣ Regular Exercise: Aim for a mix of cardio (like jogging or cycling) and strength training.
3️⃣ Prioritize Sleep: Poor sleep can lead to increased visceral fat.
4️⃣ Manage Stress: High stress levels can also contribute to abdominal fat.

Small, consistent changes can make a huge difference in your long-term health!

2025 is right around the corner! Start the new year strong by setting process-based goals instead of focusing solely on outcomes. While goals like running a race, losing 5 pounds, or cutting out chocolate can be motivating and fun for the short term, they often overlook the daily habits that truly drive success.

Process-based goals center around building consistent behaviors—like committing to daily walks, meal prepping, or stretching before bed. Over time, these small, sustainable changes can lead to significant, lasting results. Let’s make this the year of transformation, one habit at a time!

Managing your weight can be hard, but it is doable. By focusing on real scientific principles instead of fad diets and exercise methods you can create sustainable changes to your health.

Diet is arguably the most important aspect affecting your weight. It is incredibly difficult to out exercise a bad diet.

Read our latest blog post about the principle of calories in vs calories out.
Yes there are other factors that effect how many calories you want to consume and how many calories your body burns such as hormones, body composition and your environment, but at the end of the day, if you choose to prioritize whole, non-processed foods that are enjoyable, you will see slow improvements to your health.
