Cameron University Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Club We are a SGA at CU, founded to increase physical competency on campus through BJJ.

We are members of the National Collegiate Grappling Association SouthWest Conference and will be competing as a team with in this conference.

Did you know that we have a brown belt and NCGA All-American right here in the CU BJJ Club?

Meet Jesus Rojo! 👊 Chuy

Jesus is a senior at Cameron University and a brown belt who has been coaching Jiu Jitsu for the past five years.

He’s also no stranger to competition. Jesus competed in the NCGA National Championship in the D1 Championship division, where he battled his way to the championship match and earned him All-American honors.

And over the last two weeks, Jesus has stepped up in a big way.

While Dana Winters has been sidelined with an injury, Jesus has taken over main coaching responsibilities for our classes. He’s been sharing his knowledge, leading the team, and helping our students continue to learn and grow.

It’s pretty awesome to watch our own students step into leadership roles and help build something bigger than themselves.

So, did you know? Now you do. 😉

🥋 CU BJJ CLUB | VISITING BLACK BELT SERIES 🥋

Another great night on the mats! 🔥

Tonight, we had the opportunity to welcome Professor Jeremiah Mendez to Cameron University as part of our CU BJJ Club Visiting Black Belt Series!

Professor Mendez is a Carlos Machado Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt, MMA fighter, and instructor at Dynamic Martial Arts in Wichita Falls, Texas. He brought a wealth of experience to the mats and gave our students a chance to learn from a different perspective and training style.

Our students jumped right in, working through the techniques, asking questions, and putting everything into practice. 👊🥋

And, of course, the night wouldn’t be complete without some live rounds! Professor Mendez stayed on the mats and rolled with our students, giving them the opportunity to test their skills and experience his style firsthand.

A huge THANK YOU, Professor Mendez, for making the trip, sharing your knowledge, and spending the evening with the CU BJJ family!

🥋 INTRODUCING THE CU BJJ CLUB VISITING BLACK BELT SERIES 🥋

We’re excited to launch a new initiative at Cameron University designed to bring accomplished Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belts and instructors to the CU mats to share their knowledge, experience, and passion for the sport.

The CU BJJ Club Visiting Black Belt Series is all about giving our students the opportunity to learn from different instructors, experience different styles and perspectives, and connect with members of the broader Jiu-Jitsu community.

And tonight, we officially kicked it off with our FIRST Visiting Black Belt — Professor Chad Leonhardt! 👊

Professor Chad joined us on campus and spent the evening teaching our students a butterfly sweep series and transitions, emphasizing how individual techniques connect together to create a more effective and dynamic game.

Our students were incredibly enthusiastic, working through the techniques, asking questions, and putting everything into practice. 🔥

But Professor Chad didn’t stop when the instruction ended. He stayed afterward to live roll with our students, giving them the opportunity to experience his style firsthand and put what they learned to work.

A huge THANK YOU to Professor Chad Leonhardt for donating his time and knowledge to our club and helping us launch this series!

This is just the beginning. We’re looking forward to welcoming more black belts to the CU mats throughout the semester and creating more opportunities for our students to learn, connect, and grow through Jiu-Jitsu.

Yesterday’s club session was all about guard retention & passing!

A big shoutout to Jesus Rojo, CU senior, CU BJJ Club member, and brown belt for stepping up and teaching the club! 👏

Jesus shared some great details on maintaining guard, creating frames, managing distance, and working through the guard to find those passing opportunities.

We love seeing our members learn, lead, and share their knowledge with the team! That’s what CU BJJ is all about. 🖤💛

Chris makes history as the first student to earn a blue belt at Cameron University. He sets the standard for everyone coming up behind him. As a CU alum, he continues to represent what CU BJJ is all about.
