Brothers and Sisters, please take a moment to pray for our fellow brother, Drake Slusmeyer, an apprentice from Laborers’ Local 1214. Earlier this week, Drake was involved in a car accident, and we ask that you keep him in your thoughts and prayers for a full and speedy recovery.

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of our brother, Eric Watson of Laborers’ Local 576. Eric was an apprentice who was a hard worker with a love for learning.

He will be deeply missed by all of us at the Training Fund. Please keep his family and loved ones in your prayers during this difficult time.

As we grow we want everyone to get to know each person that works here at the Training Fund. We want each and every one of our members to truly see we are one big family. This week’s highlight is one of our incredible Instructor’s Alex Porter. He has been such an amazing asset to our LIUNA family.

Below is a message from Alex Porter:

I started working in construction when I graduated from high school in 1998. My first experience was with a non-union contractor pouring concrete. Over the next several years, I worked with similar contractors, making low wages, zero retirement, or other benefits. It wasn’t until my early 30s that I found trade unions and joined up. Immediately, my life changed for the better.
Today, I am very fortunate to work as an Instructor at the Kentucky Laborers Training Center in Lawrenceburg, where I get to use my twenty-plus years of experience in construction, as well as the many certifications I have received as part of my training through the LIUNA training fund to help shape the membership of today and the future.
My wife Leslie and I are the proud parents of Gabriella and Leo. Gabriella will graduate from Anderson County High School this spring and plans to attend Eastern Kentucky College for criminal studies. Leo is going into the fifth grade and loves science and drawing.
My family is the best part of my life and my best accomplishment. I owe a great debt to LIUNA, the Kentucky Laborers, and especially the membership for helping make this all happen.

122 years of strength. Solidarity. POWER!

Let’s honor LIUNA's history by writing our next chapter — louder, prouder, and stronger than ever.

Thank you for all that you do to keep this union strong and for being a part of this incredible journey as we march towards One Million Members.

Hey everyone!

We want to get to know our members more and I thought a good way for us all to connect was to share a little about yourself and your favorite experience at the Training Center or what class you took with us!

I’ll go first, my name is Isabella Bingham and I have practically grown up at the Training Fund. I am a third generation laborer, my grandfather was a Gold Card member out of Local 1392, and my dad is Ed Willoughby. My favorite part about the Training fund is that I get to connect with each of our members and get to build relationships with them. I feel honored to get to work alongside with such amazing hard working men and women.
