I was connected with a Student at KU today looking to do some research on some athletes... He works with Dr. Fry in the Kinesiology and sports science lab of Robinson.
"Hi Triathletes,
My name is Daniel, I am an Exercise Science graduate student. My research is looking at the use of Hyperbaric Oxygen Chambers in increasing recovery/performance in aerobic athletes. I have access to the same hyperbaric oxygen chamber that Lebron James and Michael Phelps openly use for recovery purposes. I am looking for competitive triathletes (ages ~18-40) that have trained aerobically consistently throughout the last year to use the hyperbaric oxygen chamber.
I thought that this would be a cool opportunity to
Utilize a hyperbaric oxygen chamber for free - potential improved recovery through increased oxygen delivery to tissues (typically ~$100/1 hr session, $5000/unit).
Find out what your resting individual muscle and arterial oxygen saturation levels are.
Learn more about the hyperbaric oxygen chamber to determine if you might want to involve it in your own training.
This would be a one-time visit (~1.5 hours) to the Jayhawk Athletic Performance Laboratory at Robinson 207 on the KU Lawrence Campus. Please let me know if you have any questions or reach out to [email protected] to schedule a time!
Take care,
Daniel"
Also, let me know whenever you have a 2-hour block available so we can set you up as a participant too!
Thanks!
Daniel
