Every week we like to reward someone who has been putting in the WORK this week.

This weeks award goes to Ethan Kadi and Darren Mount. Both of who are seniors and have decided to do Jayhawk MotorSports as their Senior Year Capstone and have done an amazing job.

This past week Darren’s constant effort has not got unnoticed. He is constantly in the shop working to get what needs to be done, DONE. He is a great teammate and has made this experience so wonderful, thank you, Darren, for all you do!

Ethan this week made the most parts. He works overtime to ensure not only his subsystem is getting done, but others as well. Thank you, Ethan, for all you do!

🏎️MEET THE TEAM MONDAY🏎️

So excited to share Jayhawk MotorSports 2023 Manufacturing Lead - Ryan Hafenstine. Ryan has done an amazing job this spring getting everything in order, is so knowledgeable regarding anything machining, and has made the BOM so easy to navigate.

Ryan said his favorite memory of JMS this far has been pulling all nighters in the shop with Nick, Madi, Brooke, Charlie, and Aiden preparing for the combustion car competition last may.

Ryan is excited for this years competition in May and can’t wait to show what we have been working so hard for this past year.

Thanks for everything you do, Ryan! We are so lucky to have you.

Did you know you do not have to be a senior to get involved with JMS? Although Jayhawk MotorSports is an option for a senior Mechanical Engineering capstone, everyone is welcome to come & participate. Every Wednesday we have volunteer work nights from 6-10pm in Learned 1109. If you have any more questions feel free to DM us. So, without further ado let me introduce this years Volunteer Lead - Baird Townsend ().

Baird is a junior mechanical engineering student and has been involved with Jayhawk MotorSports since his freshman year. This year Baird stepped up to be the Volunteer Team Lead and has done an amazing job working with & leading the volunteers this year.

Baird said his favorite thing about JMS is all the skills he has learned and improved upon. This includes fabrication (welding, lathing, milling, CNC, composite lay-up) to leadership/people skills (motivating fellow volunteers, communicating problems and paths to solutions, project management). He says that beyond this years competition he really looks forward to his senior capstone with JMS in 2024.

Thank you Baird for all you do. We are very lucky to have you!

Each week we award someone who has been putting in the work this semester!

This week the award went to Alec (freshman) & Aiden (senior). Both of these guys have been putting in serious time and effort into JMS.

Alec has a passion for CNC and it has SHOWN. We are so thankful for his time & dedication to this team.

Aiden has manufactured well over 30 parts and continues to do more and more each day. This car would not be where it is without you! Thank you for your time and skill.

🏎️ MEET THE TEAM MONDAY🏎️

For the first meet the team Monday, it only felt right to start with the 2023 Team Captain of Jayhawk MotorSports, Brooke Taylor! (.taylorr)

Brooke has been a part of JMS for four years now. Last year Brooke was the Co-Team Lead and this year stepped up as the Team Captain and has done an amazing job. She oversees every subteam & subsystem.

Brookes favorite memory from JMS is the time that the car spun out at park & ride and they were not able to get it to start up again. The enforcement manager was yelling at Ryan H. for the team being there at the other end of the lot & she said the whole experience was a funny and memorable one😂

Thank you for all you do for the team, Brooke! We love you.
