Dear Breaking Wave Martial Arts Family,
I wanted to share a quick update regarding our class schedule over the next couple of days till MLK day.
As many of you know, I will be undergoing spine surgery and will need a short period to focus on recovery before returning to teach. I’m incredibly grateful for the encouragement, support, and kind messages so many of you have shared—it truly means more than I can express.
Adjusted Schedule:
· 1/9 Friday – Closed (surgery day),
· 1/16 Friday – Closed (no class coverage available)
· 1/17 Saturday – Closed as we will be sending a team of competitors (ages 6-60!) and instructors from Breaking Wave to compete in the USA IFK Championship!
Exception: Tai Chi classes on 1/17 will still be held
· 1/19 Monday – Closed in observance of MLK Day
During this time, many of our regularly scheduled classes will continue and will be covered by some truly excellent coaches and assistants:
· Coach Scott - Kungfu Black Belt, champion competitor and judge with over nearly 30 years of experience in the martial arts.
· Coach Davey - 2nd Degree Kungfu Black Belt, USA National Kungfu Team Member and Kyokushin Karate Gold Medalist.
· Coach Max - 4the Degree Kungfu Black Belt. US National Kungfu Team Member.
· Master Instructor Sandra - Elite competitor and judge with 36 years of experience in Kungfu and Tai Chi.
· Coach Ayaan - Kungfu Black Belt, demo team member and competitor with 8 years of experience.
· Coach Alex - Kungfu Black Belt, demo team member and competitor with 9 years of experience.
I have full confidence in them, and I hope you’ll enjoy training with them and continue to support one another as part of the Breaking Wave community. I plan to take about a week to recover and then gradually return to teaching after MLK day. While I’m away, I am still reachable by email and phone if you need anything or have questions. Thank you all again for your understanding, patience, and continued dedication to your training. This community is something very special, and I’m looking forward to being back on the mat with you soon.
With gratitude,
Shifu Lucas
