We haven’t posted much about our #59 racer, Ashlan. ❤️

Our daughter has had to step away from both racing and the sport she loves most—elite softball—after suffering a SLAP tear from years of playing and, quite honestly, from being one hell of a catcher.

As a dad, watching your kid work so hard to reach the top and then have it all suddenly put on pause is heartbreaking. The physical recovery is one thing, but I think the mental side is the hardest part when you’re at the top of your game and suddenly can’t do what you love.

But Ashlan is strong. 💪🏼 She’s daddy’s little girl!!

And this old baseball-playing dad is going to be right there beside her, helping her get back on top—one day, one step, and one milestone at a time.

She’s in great hands, and as a family with a medical background, we’ve been incredibly blessed to have some of the most knowledgeable and caring doctors helping guide her through this.

For now, our peanut has a different race to run.

There will be no rushing it. There will be no shortcuts. Just patience, hard work, and believing in the process.

In 4–6 months, she’ll pick up that softball again. And when she does, I have a feeling she’s going to appreciate that first throw, first swing, and first game more than ever.

Until then, we love you dearly, Ashlan. ❤️

One day at a time. One step at a time. And eventually… back to doing what you love.

Snake River Showdown — Magic Valley Speedway Main Event

This race had a little bit of everything for Broxton.

On the very first lap, the racing was aggressive. Broxton was running the outside lane when the two cars underneath him continued coming up toward the third lane, leaving Broxton nowhere to go but toward the “K” wall.

For a second, it looked like he was going over. Broxton went sideways, caught the car, landed back on all four wheels… and kept racing. Almost a Dukes of Hazzard moment. 😂🏁

What happened next is what made this race so remarkable. Broxton knows his car. He was communicating with us about what he was feeling and hearing, and he was still able to race his way up to 6th place and battle for 5th.

But underneath him, the car was starting to come apart.

A spacer collar had broken in half. That put additional pressure on the adjoining collar, which eventually broke as well. The axle began shifting outward in the corners, which misaligned the chain and completely bent the chain guide. The front-left spindle was also pushed into the tire.

As the laps went on, Broxton could feel the car losing speed and wanting to pull left. He didn’t know exactly what was happening, but he knew something wasn’t right.

He still wanted to finish the race and bring home the points.And he did.

After the race, Broxton explained everything he had felt and heard during those final laps. Looking at the car afterward, we realized just how much was happening underneath him.

That led to an important conversation. Safety comes before points. Always.

We also talked about holding his lane. We don’t ever want Broxton—or any racer—to end up in the wall. If he needs to protect his lane and push back for his own safety, he has our permission to do so.

And we want to be clear: we don’t hold anyone accountable for what happened. These are kids learning, developing racecraft, and figuring out how to race around one another. Things are going to happen.
What matters is that everyone walked away, learned something, and was ready to race again.

At the Snake River Showdown, Broxton spun out quite a bit during practice.

We have a philosophy in our pit: Be in control of the car. Don’t let the car control you.

Broxton was pushing hard into the corners at 63–64 mph, and sometimes that meant finding the limit the hard way. But what we loved was what happened next.

He would analyze what happened, climb right back in, and attack that same corner again. No intimidation. No frustration. Just another opportunity to learn.

Every track has its own personality, and every driver has to find that balance within themselves. Broxton kept working until he found it.

That’s what we love about this kid. He doesn’t expect everything to be perfect. He just keeps going, keeps learning, and keeps progressing.

Spin. Learn. Reset. Attack again. 🏁

Magic Valley Speedway 🏁 | Snake River Showdown Race Weekend

Magic Valley Speedway is where we started our Snake River Race Weekend. We arrived Tuesday, and Wednesday was all about practice.

The track feels a lot like The Bullring back home, but it is completely unforgiving. The shorter track means you have to run the lanes just right. Miss your line, and you’re going to find the wall.

Between Wednesday and Thursday, Broxton made over 10 practice runs, working on his lines, getting comfortable with the track, and learning every little imperfection before race night.

Overall, Broxton absolutely loved this track. As a dad, I really enjoyed the pits. Everyone was packed in tight, right next to each other, and it just had that old-school racing atmosphere that makes you feel like you’re part of something.

This was only the beginning of our time at Magic Valley Speedway. 🏁
