The 22 Buddy Check Daily Challenge. This is the simplest thing on this page and it is the one that works.

1. Identify 22 active duty and Veteran friends, or people from a past unit.
2. Start a private group with those 22 battle buddies.
3. Message daily to check on them.
4. Ask each of your 22 to start their own group of 22.

Why 22.

A 2011 VA study estimated 22 Veterans a day were lost to su***de. That estimate is where our "Original " name "22 Warriors Foundation" comes from, and it is why this foundation exists.

VA's newest report counts 6,398 Veterans lost in 2023 — about 17.5 a day, and the lowest total in 14 of the last 15 years.

Fewer. Not few.

The number that keeps us up is a different one: 61% of them were not receiving VA health care in the last year of their life. Most of the people we are losing are outside the system built to catch them. They are at work, at the gym, on your street, in your group chat.

Which means the person most likely to notice is not a clinician. It is you.

Our goals have not changed: 100% cost free services or referrals, regardless of discharge status. Be the hub for those in immediate need. Be the voice for the 22.
