November 8 and 9, 2017

Please join us as the 7th annual WestJetters and Friends Las Vegas Invitational golf event returns to Planet Hollywood! The Planet Hollywood Hotel and CasinoLas Vegas has once again provided us with a block of rooms at preferred rates for the event this year. This year we will be golfing at Wildhorse Golf Club (Day 1) and Black Mountain Golf and Country Club (Day 2).

Each day of golf will include round trip transportation from the hotel to the golf course for the 10:00am shot-gun start and a breakfast sandwich and coffee before tee-off. We'll also continue to have a 2 hour open bar after each round and we'll also have some prizes after round two.

The cost for each golfer is $351.50 and if you wish to take advantage of the rates we have secured at Planet Hollywood the cost ranges between $116 and $124 per night depending which nights you choose to include in your stay. The room block we have been given this year are all recently renovated rooms. We have been given an initial allotment of 30 rooms at these guaranteed rates this year. We have an option to request more rooms, however, Planet Hollywood has reserved the right to increase the rate for additional rooms depending on their inventory so book soon if you'd like to be assured of these rates. We have rooms blocked from November 6-9 so that you can organize your trip as you wish.

Pre Departure Checklist

Hi Everyone,
Our Las Vegas golf trip is just around the corner! We wanted to send out a quick note to let you know a few things before we head down.

First off… GOLF!
Two Days at Badlands
The weather is looking unreal with temps forecast to be in the mid 20's right now. We have 30 players this year so we'll be going out as a shotgun start at 1030. Breakfast sandwiches and coffee will be waiting for us at the course when we arrive. Carts will be ready for us with pre-printed scorecards. There is a driving range and putting green to get warmed up before we tee off. The course typically lets us leave clubs on the carts after day one so that we don't have to drag them back and forth. WestJet (Richard Bartrem) has stepped up again and supported our prize pool. We have some WestJet Swag like shirts, fleeces and hats. We'll also have lots of cash prizes as well as some golf items like clubs, and shirts from Badlands. The Mah/Weber group can't make it this year but Rod Weber has kicked in 4 dozen golf balls for prizes too. Thanks Rod! We'll roll out the prize stuff while we enjoy our open bar for a couple hours after golf on day 2 at the course. Our priority is a couple fun rounds of golf in a reasonable amount of time so don't worry about what you shoot. Pick up and enjoy a beer once you hit double par and you can fight amongst your group on a reasonable 'that's good!' distance on putts. We don't use scores for determining prizes except for a small trophy we have for the rare 'good' golfer who shoots the low gross score for the two days. Everyone wins something and there are also plenty of opportunities to 'double dip' with lots of Closest To Pin and Long Drive type contests. We've attached the preliminary pairings list for you to review. We have noticed a couple spelling discrepancies between the names given on the signup sheet and the names given to the golf course. Please have a look and let us know if we picked the wrong spelling to run with so that we can try to get the correct spelling to the course before they print anything up.

Extra Round On Tuesday
If you are joining us for the extra round on Tuesday I've attached preliminary pairings for that day too. Thanks to Geoff Kinasewich for organizing this day for us at Las Vegas National. We have 4 tee times starting at 0950 at a price of $85 for those that got back to us that they were interested. You can check the pairing sheet for the extra day to make sure we have you covered!

Next... Transportation

We have arranged mini coach transportation to and from Badlands each day. We have asked for a 0850 departure from Planet Hollywood each day. The bus leaves from the Bus Loading area on the check in level. You can ask any of the staff at the doors to point you in the right direction but it's pretty easy. Head out the doors and turn left right away. Follow the sidewalk about 200 yards and you'll hit the bus loading area. You will be looking for a 31 passenger Bell Transportation mini coach. We want to make sure we give time for loading clubs, traffic, as well we have our breakfast sandwich and coffee at the course. Hitting a couple warm up shots on the range and a few putts will be nice too. We have arranged a 1700 return each day. Don't forget we have a 2 hour open bar after golf on both days. If our rounds are moving along faster than planned I'll call the bus company from the course and arrange for an earlier pickup. We'll see how it goes. They are usually flexible so it's a nice arrangement.

Stumbling on to… Monday Night Football, Tuesday night meet and greet and Wednesday/Thursday night dinner
Monday Night
For those arriving Monday we plan on continuing our tradition of getting bets in on the Monday Night Football game and going to Blondies Sports Bar in the Miracle Mile Shops area which is connected to Planet Hollywood just outside of the casino. They have lots of screens and the wings and beer are decent. The game starts at 1730 so we'll be there at that time.

Tuesday Night Meet and Greet
We have a pretty manageable group size again this year so we were thinking we'll plan to start out at PBR Rock Bar and Grill at the southwest corner of PH and see how things develop. It has served us well in the past for both food and drink and we're excited that Phil Evans has agreed to put on a bull riding clinic again as his show was so appreciated by all last year! Thanks Phil! We'll plan for 2000. If you run into trouble finding it just ask any of the staff in the casino for vectors. It's just outside the casino, across from the sports book.

Wednesday/Thursday Night
We'll leave dinner plans for Wednesday night until we get down there but Wardo has started a pretty solid tradition of getting a private room at PF Changs, just off the casino at PH, for a bit of a party. I highly advise encouraging him to continue this tradition as it usually turns into the night that he and Big Canoe come off the rails and provide entertainment for that evening AND the following day! Mike Molinaro has also been known, on occasion, to recommend a good Italian place just off the strip and I am confident he'll mention it again (don't let me down Mike!) this year so both Wednesday and Thursday night should be pretty easily covered!

1. Who is invited?
The WestJetters and Friends Las Vegas Invitational golf event is open to all WestJet employees and their friends. If you have more than a foursome, that’s ok too! Please provide us with your guest list, and contact emails, so we can forward all relevant information to them.

2. What is the cost?
There are two separate payments required for those playing golf. The first is to our event treasurer ($150CDN) to cover transportation between Planet Hollywood and Badlands Golf Course each day, prizes, and, of course, $US exchange rates! And the second is to Badlands Golf Course ($201.50US) for golf, breakfast each day, and open bar after golf. If you wish to take advantage of the room rates we have secured at Planet Hollywood we will provide our unique reservations link so that you can reserve your room for $108/night for November 7th, 8th and 9th, $128 for the10th, $208 for the 11th and $220 for the 12th based on single or double occupancy. Rooms are blocked from November 7-13 and you can book whatever length of stay you wish around the golf event. We have a limited number of rooms guaranteed at this rate so book early to be sure you get one at these rates.

3. How do I pay?
When you sign up you will receive a detailed payment instructions sheet with all the details.

4. What are the dates?
The 2-day golf tournament/event takes place November 9th and 10th. Rooms at Planet Hollywood are blocked from November 7th to 13th so that you can arrange your stay around the golf tournament as you wish.

5. What are the payment deadlines?
There are a limited number of spots available for the event so we require your deposit to the treasurer when you sign up to hold your spot on the list. In order to receive our preferred rates at Planet Hollywood reservations must be made by October 18th, 2016. Payment to Par 4 Management must be made by October 14, 2016. 6. What is the cancellation policy?
Should you have a problem arise that prevents you from attending, the following terms apply:

Planet Hollywood
Hotel allows individual attendees the right to cancel their guestroom reservations without penalty up to seventy-two (72) hours prior to the attendees’ scheduled arrival date. Hotel shall charge the individual attendee one (1) night’s guaranteed guestroom rate plus tax for cancellation within seventy-two (72) hours of the scheduled arrival date, or failure of the individual to check-in on the scheduled arrival date. Any remaining nights of a “no-show” reservation will be cancelled. It is policy to have a credit card or cash deposit upon check-in for incidental charges.

Hotel accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover and Diners Club.

Par4 Management
Cancellation must be made prior to Friday October 14, 2016 to receive full refund.

Cancellation after October 14, 2016 will result in full refund minus $20. The $20 would cover items that will have been printed and/or purchased prior to arrival. Cancellation after October 21th, 2016 will result in loss of payment.

Event Treasurer

There is a driving range and nice short game practice facility to get warmed up before we tee off. WestJet, or more specifically Richard Bartrem, has stepped up again and supported our prize pool this year. We have a confirmed trip for 2 anywhere WestJet flies as well as some WestJet Swag like shirts and hats. We'll also have lots of cash prizes as well as some golf items supplied by the golf course. We'll roll out the prize stuff while we enjoy our open bar for a couple hours after golf on day 2 at the course. Our priority is a couple fun rounds of golf so don't worry about what you shoot. We don't use scores for determining prizes. Everyone wins something and there are also plenty of opportunities to double dip with lots of Closest To Pin and Long Drive contests. We've attached the preliminary pairings list for you to review. Please have a look and make sure we have paired you as requested if you have made a pairing request. Also, make sure we have your names spelled correctly as we (really just me) have made some errors in the past. :(
Next... Transportation

We have arranged mini coach transportation to and from Silverstone each day. We have asked for a 0830 departure from the Paris Hotel each day. Make sure you are ready to go in the bus loading area at about 0820 so that we can be rolling by 0830. The busses leave from the North exit, between Le Bar du Sport and the Anthony Cools Experience. You will be looking for 2 Bell Transportation mini coaches. We want to make sure we give time for loading clubs, traffic, as well we have our breakfast sandwich and coffee at the course. Hitting a couple warm up shots on the range and a few putts will be nice too. We have arranged a 1600 return on day 1 and a 1630 return on day 2. They are flexible so if it looks like our round is progressing better than planned I can make a call from the course and get them to come earlier.

Stumbling on to… Tuesday night meet and greet and Wednesday night dinner
We have a fairly large group this year so we have chosen the Chateau as the location for our meet and greet. It's located on the casino side of the Sugar Factory. We'll be there in the evening and hope to see you all there. Get checked in and come join us for a drink! Don't be afraid to shoot me a text (Brad Hodges 403-466-2985) if you get lost or can't find us. We're hoping everyone can make for at least a short visit.
We've also gone ahead and made a reservation for 40 at Le Burger Brasserie on Wednesday night at 7:00 pm.

Hi Everyone,

A few of us are going to play a warm up round at Badlands on Tuesday November 12th at 10:00 am. If any of you are interested in playing with us let me know ASAP and we'll book you a tee time.

Set against the majestic Red Rock Canyons, Badlands features three unique 9-hole layouts; Desperado, Diablo, and Outlaw. All three courses were designed by award winning golfers Johnny Miller and Chi Chi Rodriguez.

The three courses that make up Badlands test golfers of all levels, especially those who tend to miss the green. Should you miss the green, you will be playing from the challenging lye’s the desert has to offer (Canyons).

We will be paying for this round at the course and will take taxis to get there.

We’re heading back to Las Vegas for the 3rd annual WestJetters and Friends Las Vegas Invitational golf event and we want you and your friends to join us at Planet Hollywood and Silverstone Golf Course.

The cost for each golfer is $325.75 and if you wish to take advantage of the rates we have secured at Planet Hollywood the cost is $75/night. We have rooms blocked from November 10-17 so that you can organize your trip as you wish.
Sign up is on a first come, first serve basis. When you sign up the payment details will be sent to you including all terms of the agreement with the hotel and golf course. We do have a limited number of rooms blocked at our group price and limited space for golf so your deposit payment will be required 10 days after receiving payment instructions or we will have to release your spot to someone waiting with payment. Sign up will begin May 1, 2013.
