And now for our brags!
Our championship team took 2nd in Division 4. We couldn't have asked anything more from our championship dogs. They ran their hearts out and did everything we asked.
Our anchor dog, Haze, fell ill on the drive out to Missouri, and we nursed her back to health and saved her for the last few championship races in finals. Haze came through for us and really made the other teams sweat!
Frodo was stellar - he did not spit a single ball, and pulled out 3.7s all weekend and even a 3.6 in the final run-off!
Liar was Mr. Steady Eddie! He was consistently fast and never made a mistake, even for a new handler. Many thanks to Tamison Rife - she stepped in and handled this intense dog, who she hasn't run very often. She had very consistent passing, and she and Liar helped our champs team go 3-2 against Division 3, 4, 5 teams on Saturday!
Rain was on fire! In addition to running on our Dream Team on Friday, she stepped in for Haze to recover, and was running sub-4s all day Saturday. She came in, and did her job and then-some.
In addition to running a few races on a kid's Dream Team on Friday and running like a champ for her junior handler Kate, Savage ran consistent starts and sub-4s all weekend for the championship team.
Wicked has also turned into a racing fiend! She ran in 3rd in the line-up. She did not have one spit ball and handled tight passes like a veteran.
Our FUNSUCKERS team also played on Friday and Sunday. This team ran clean and consistent both days, and racked up many points! Despite subbing a large poodle mix for a small border whippet, they were still competitive and earned 3rd in Division 3 on Friday and 4th in Division 5 on Sunday!
To our surprise, Chill received his 35,000 point plaque. In addition to being the most solid, reliable dog we could ask for, little Chill was fired up on Sunday and even ran a 5.4!
Fiction, one of our most mommy-centric dogs who we thought would never run for anyone else, ran solid and fast for Kristi, grabbing her tug like a beast, and ran some sub-4s.
We are very proud of Tobias (who could be easily spotted towering above all the other dogs sporting his characteristic pink "racing stripe" mohawk) - he ran solid and consistent all weekend, ran several sub-5s, and earned his TFE-III title!
Finally, Twyla (our little Malinois) made her debut doing recalls during warmups on Sunday (her first birthday!). Despite the chaos of a three-ring tournament, she kept her focus and hit her tug with enthusiasm!
We were also honored to receive the Team Sportsmanship award from U-FLI amongst many deserving teams. This award means so much to us, especially since we are such a small team! We really learned how to work as a team this weekend, and are excited for the 2019 championships!
