Shoutout to my client ‼️

We have been working together for almost 3 months now and she just hit an all-time personal best with a 330 # trap bar deadlift.

Keep up the great work and I look forward seeing you progress further❗️

It’s tempting to wanna do “cool”, complex exercises that many trainers put out on social media.

Some of them probably train like that but I assume most them didn’t train like that to look the way they do or to have the capability of doing stupid exercises.

Unfortunately, many of you fall for the click bait and try to incorporate their stupid exercises with expectations of looking a certain way.

If you’re following some of the best coaches in the strength and conditioning industry, majority if not all, are constantly encouraging people to stick with the basics.

If you want train for the long-term, get great at moving with fundamental movement patterns.

The fast-track, quick fix method is a common approach in health and fitness.

Unrealistic weight loss goals within a very short timeframe.

Restrictive diets with the lack of positive behaviors, self-awareness and skillset with nutrition.

No rhythm or consistency with their lifestyle habits and no alignment with their priorities and goals.

Autonomy and the freedom to live a healthy, sustainable lifestyle should be the goal.

Build a solid base of healthy, sustainable habits before going into more complex methods.

Earn the right and the ability to go heavier, faster or to incorporate more complexity into your training.

Play the long game!

Slow is smooth, smooth is fast!

Stress placed on the body in the form of exercise or training needs to be increased progressively to see adaptation.

How much?

It depends!

If you are chronically stressed from other areas of your life (e.g., work, family, environment, finances, lack of sleep, nutrition), then adding more stress may not be appropriate.

That’s why it’s important to take a holistic view of your life and get consistent with the basic lifestyle guidelines.

It supports and promotes recovery, and sustainability as well.

More isn’t always better!

Recovery days don’t have to be spent doing nothing.

Instead, incorporate some movement to help promote recovery.

What you do should be relative to your goals, training age and level of fitness.

The goal is to recover, not to do another training session.

Utilize recovery days to get in some slow steady state cardio, mobility, flexibility, and breath work.

Working on limitations or mobility restrictions are great for recovery days.

Optimal recovery allows for optimal adaptation!

Walking is making a comeback.

High-intensity interval training has its positives but it isn’t always the most appropriate option for every individual.

Even for the high level athlete, walking can be beneficial for all.

Walking provides numerous benefits for the body, including:

✅ Blood flow that promotes recovery

✅ Stress reliever (improve mood)

✅ 🔥 Calories (NEAT)

✅ Cardiovascular health

✅ Easier on the joints compared to running

✅ Longevity

Get those steps in❗️

Progressive overload is boring.

You do the same exercises week after week with slight variations in accessory work and even less variation in the primary lifts.

But boring is where adaptation occurs and the results happen!

Stay consistent, and train hard and smart.
